POLSON — About 20 vendors made the opening day of the Polson Farmer’s Market a success on May 6. The Farmers Market set up in its new location on 3rd Ave. West between 1st Street W. and Main Street.
Goods from artisan breads to purses to jewelry to soap to quilts to plants to pens were for sale.
At 8:45 a.m., downtown business people Shelley Quinn from Quinn’s Wrap Shack and Ken Avison from The Cove gathered scissors and a sword to officially cut the ribbon opening the inaugural market. Farmer’s Market Master Don Blais, Assistant Market Master Jamie Seegers, Karen Sargeant, Polson Parks Director and Todd Crossett, Polson City Manager joined Quinn and Avison.
The Farmer’s Market will be open on Fridays through October from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sargeant worked with the Farmer’s Market vendors to move from last year’s location in the parking lot of the Masonic Temple off 4th Ave, Crossett said. There were safety concerns with that location, and there was also no room for the Farmer’s Market to grow.
Seegers was excited about the move.
“It’s a great opportunity for everybody. It’s gonna be good,” Seegers said.
