MISSOULA – The Lady Bulldogs started the week with a loss but came back with a dominating vengeance in a week of chilling wind on the softball field.
On Monday the Lady Bulldogs fell to Loyola-Sacred Heart in Missoula, 3-9. Pitcher Courtney Charlo managed to strike out five Lady Rams.
Thursday the Lady Bulldogs pulverized in a no-holds-barred, double header sweep. Game one in Troy saw Lady Bulldog Morgan Malatare perfect at the plate, going 3-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Alyssa Doty’s bat found the ball four out of six times, bringing in five teammates. Emilie Charlo knocked in a jaw dropping eight RBIs. Courtney Charlo picked up the 27-0 win, allowing only a single hit from the circle.
In game two against the Lady Trojans, MAC’s bats were hot with 10 Lady Bulldogs crossing the plate off their bats in the 21-3 contest. Shania Dubois, Courtney Charlo and Connor Smith combined to put up 10 RBIs with Dubois taking the lead with four. Charlo and Smith each had three apiece. Emilie Charlo was 3-4 and Morgan Malatare was plate perfect again, going 2-2. Jordyn Eichert was 2-3 with a double and a triple.
The Lady Bulldogs will join other valley teams and compete at the Frenchtown Invitational April 25-26.
