Barbara J. Courville Durglo

MISSOULA — Barbara J. Courville Durglo, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and auntie, joined those that passed before her on Friday, April 25, 2014, surrounded by loved ones, at St. Pat’s Hospital in Missoula.

She was born Feb. 24, 1942, at Holy Family Hospital in St. Ignatius to Frank Omar “Homer” and Ann Bisson Courville. She grew up in the Pablo area and married Michael L. Durglo Senior in 1959.  Michael “Louie” and Barb made their first home in the Mollmon Pass area and later moved near Mike’s parent’s on Eagle Pass Trail.  Later, Barb and Mike moved to St. Ignatius to raise their six children.

Barb was a longtime employee at the Holy Family Hospital and was also a longtime dedicated employee of Tribal Health as a Diabetic Specialist.  She cherished all of her CHR friends and the time spent with them. Her caring, loving spirit was spread to all those she worked with and for.

Barb’s health began to falter and she was forced to take it easy after many years of helping others. Of course, taking it easy was not something that Barb was able to do. She could always be found making her rounds helping others in need with foot care and spiritual support.

Barb was a very accomplished bead worker and spent many late nights at her beading table. Examples of her work can be found far and wide. Of course Barb could also be found attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events and sneaking off to the casino every once in a while as well.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Michael “Louie” Durglo Sr.; children Mike Jr. (Terri), Joe (Alana), Jim (Angie), Donna, Dan (Natasha), and Caroline; brothers Homer (Karen), Edwin, Dennis (Julie), Tim (Vickie); and sisters Patsy Doyle and Gloria (Bud) Rost.  She was extremely proud of her 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren that were very special to her.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents Frank Omar “Homer” and Ann Bisson Courville; stepdaughter Mary McCoy; daughter Linda Christine Durglo; grandson Kyle Joseph Trahan; brother Marvin Courville and sister Phyllis Clairmont.

Services for Barbara were held April 28 at St. Ignatius Catholic Mission. Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery in Ronan. Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements. Messages of condolences may be shared with the family online at: groganfuneralhome.com.
