Polson track competes in Corvallis

CORVALLIS — The Pirates and Lady Pirates grabbed some middle spots as Corvallis hosted the Sapphire Twilight Meet on Friday. While the boys placed fourth out of five with a team score of 78, the girls notched up to the third spot, posting a team score of 77.67. 

Jacob Clairmont was the only Pirate to place first, jumping 20 feet, 10 inches in the long jump. Clairmont also placed third in the 300 hurdles. Joe Gallatin took second place in shot put at 45 feet and third in discus. Other third-place finishers include Tel Motichka (1600m), Joey Mullen (javelin), and Austin Corrigan (shot put). The Pirate relay team grabbed fourth in the 400m.

The Lady Pirates did not produce any first-place finishers but were able to secure a few second, third and fourth places. Lady Pirates Lydia Bowman placed second in the 200m, Claudia Hewston cleared 9-6 in the pole vault and Chloie Huerta threw 110-2 for a second in discus. Hewston also placed third in the 800m and Huerta in shot put. Other third place finishers include Madison Wheeler (300h) and Mariah Corrigan (javelin) while Tiara Duford (200m), Kidron Lee (high jump), and Gracie Carlyle (long jump) each took fourth in their events. The Lady Pirate relays teams earned the silver in the 1600m and took third in the 400m.

Polson will host the Lake County Invitational May 6.

Team scores: Hamilton 159, Corvallis 127, Charlo 88, Polson 78, Columbia Falls 73.

Girls

Team scores: Corvallis 212, Hamilton 120, Polson 77.67, Columbia Falls 67.33, Charlo 46.
