Charlo track teams place four

MISSOULA – The Vikings and Lady Vikings were on a roll last week, picking up top-four placings in Missoula on Tuesday and Corvallis on Friday. At Tuesday’s meet at Missoula County Stadium, Vikings Kail Pope and Jacen Peterson both secured first placed finishes. Peterson cleared 12-6 to earn first place in pole vault and Pope crossed the finish line first in the 300 hurdles. Pope also finished in second in the 110 hurdles. Second-place finishers included Manual Amman (3200) and Michael Delaney (300h). Delaney also grabbed third in the 100m and Amman earned a third-place finish in the 1,600m. Other third-place finishers included Trent Dennison (800m) and Dugan Runkel (shot put) while Tyler Delaney (400m) and Dalton Delaney (3,200) placed fourth. The Vikings placed second in the 400 relay and fourth in the 1,600 relay.

Lady Viking Jordan Ludeman was the only girl to place first for Charlo, clearing 8 feet in the pole vault. Mackenzie Foust grabbed a second place finish in the 1,600m and third in javelin. Third place finishers include Michaela Krahn (discus) and Lea Reich (high jump). Reich also came in fourth in the long jump. Aspen Runkel took fourth in both 100 and 300 hurdle races and Sierra Ragen (800m), Cheyenne Nagy (300h), and Suzanah Clark (triple jump) also each grabbed fourth. Lady Pirate relay teams placed second in both the 400 and 1,600 relay.

On Friday Charlo competed at the Sapphire Twilight Invitational in Corvallis. The boys placed third out of six with a team score of 88 while the girls struggled to find top four in their events, coming away in the bottom spot with a team score of 46. Viking Kail Pope once again ruled the hurdles events, coming in first in the 300 and second in the 110. Tyler Delaney also came away with first in the 100m and second in the 200m. Second placers included Michael Delaney (100), Frank Pope (400) and Jacen Peterson (pole vault). In at third was Connor Daugherty (400m) and taking a fourth place finish was Jade Smith (400m) and Dugan Runkel in shot put. Viking relay teams took second in the 400 and third in the 1,600 relay.

Lady Pirate Aspen Runkel took a first place finish in the 300 hurdles and second in 100 hurdles for the girls. In the three spot was Mackenzie Foust finishing third in the 3,200 and fourth place finishers include Jordan Ludeman (pole vault) and Cheyenne Nagy (300h). The Lady Viking relay team placed second in the 400m. 

Next stop for the Vikings and Lady Vikings is the Lake County Invitational, hosted by Polson May 6.
