Jordan McKenzie Kennedy

HERRIMAN, UTAH — Jordan McKenzie Kennedy was granted her angel wings on Friday, May 16, 2014, in Herriman, Utah. Jordan was twelve years old and fought an eight-month battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by the endless love of her family and friends.

Jordan’s life would seem too short, but those who were lucky enough to know her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her infectious smile could melt your heart. Despite enduring rigorous chemo and radiation treatments, Jordan possessed amazing strength, courage, and determination. Her courage showed everyone that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create a lasting memory. She loved stuffed animals and they surrounded her in her bed. Her favorite item was her Tiger pillow pet. She enjoyed music and would listen to the song “Radioactive” to prep for radiation. She loved the color orange and enjoyed the thoughtful cards, flowers, and fundraisers using orange in her honor. She loved her family and especially loved the summers with her Grandma and Grandpa on the lake in Montana.

With Jordan’s passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. She will forever remain in our hearts and her memory will not be forgotten. Jordan brought families together and taught everyone what bravery really means. She met each day with a smile on her face and love in her heart.

Jordan Kennedy was born on Dec. 6, 2001, in Littleton, Colo., to Robert L. Kennedy and Sheri Gunlock. Jordan is survived by her mother Sheri and siblings; Aubrey, Dalan and Madison; her grandparents Daren and Debbie Gunlock, Gordon and ShirLene Kennedy and Cheryl and Clyde Rasband; not to mention countless other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Robert L. Kennedy, her uncle Taylor John (TJ) Kennedy, and her maternal great grandparents Earl and Alice Brooks and paternal great-grandparents Harold and Lily Gunlock.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Brighton 6th Ward located at 2925 East Bengal Boulevard. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. A graveside service will be held at 3115 East Bengal Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, please make donations at any Zion’s Bank location to the Jordan Kennedy Fund or Childrenandtheearth.com (Jordan Kennedy).
