Vikings dominate Western C divisional track

MISSOULA – Charlo’s Vikings came out on top at the Western C Divisonals Friday and Saturday, boasting a first place team score of 121. Several Vikings placed first in their individual events and took gold in both the long and short relays. Relay teams include Jacen Peterson, Michael Delaney, Kail Pope, Tyler Delaney, and Connor Daugherty. Viking Tyler Delaney placed first in the 200 meter with a time of 22.71 and also placed second in the 100 meter and third in the 400 meter. Michael Delaney grabbed first in the 100 meter with a time of 11.54 and fourth in the 200 meter. Kail Pope finished with a first place time of 40.53 in the 300-meter hurdles and secured a second place finish in the 110 hurdles while Manual Ammann crossed the line first in the 3,200, logging a score of 10:35.68. Placing second for the Vikings was Jacen Peterson in both javelin and pole vault. Dalton Delaney’s time of 11:00.66 was good for a third place finish and also placed fourth in the 1,600.

Arlee’s Isaac Desjarlais grabbed third in the 100 meter and Two Eagle River’s Kamiah Payne finished fourth in the long jump. The Warriors placed 14th with a team score of 6 and Two Eagle River came in at 17 with a team score of 4.

For the girls, the Lady Vikings’ relay team consisting of Madison Foust, Sienna Brown, Aspen Runkel, and Shayna Nagy took first in the 400-meter relay with a time of 51.99. Lady Viking Jordan Ludeman was the lone valley athlete to take first for the girls, clearing 9-6 in the pole vault. Aspen Runkel took second in both the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles as well as fourth in the 200 meter. Charlo’s Lady Vikings placed fourth overall as a team with a score of 50.

Arlee’s Scarlets placed eighth and posted a team score of 31. Scarlet Jessica Knoll found second in the 800 meter with a time of 2:25.12 and Whitney Malatare landed 15-11 ? in the long jump, good for second place. The Scarlet relay team finished third in the 400 meter.

The top five individual competitors and relay teams qualify for the State meet to be held in Great Falls May 30-31.
