I am writing to express my appreciation for Jocko Valley Library director, Arlee High School ALC supervisor, and Friday “Free Three” Activities coordinator Kim Folden.
It is this final role that I’d like to describe for readers unfamiliar with Folden’s work. Since our district changed to a four-day week this school year, some parents have puzzled over what to do for their children on an extra day off. As a teacher, I also have this day off, but I’d prefer to provide my kids - ages 8 and 6 - with some enrichment rather than another day of sitting around the house. What about some African dancing? How about learning about recycling?
Kim has designed all of these activities and more. She has also coordinated community members and high school students to spend their Fridays working with kids - and I appreciate them as well.
May 14 is the last Friday Free Three day this year and I know my kids are looking forward to a great morning. Thank you, Kim, for all you do for our children and our community.
