Editor,
Dan Yonkin and Don Bell and others have tried to help Ronan in providing Ronan citizens with 24-7 professionally and well-trained police department services, yet Ronan Mayor Kim Aipperspach and some of the city councilmembers still wouldn’t listen to their recommendations. Ronan was given another way out by letting Lake County Sheriff’s Department outsource its services to Ronan, for a least for a year, giving the City of Ronan a year or longer to get a fully trained professional police department.
Ronan has several city councilmembers and its mayor — who have no knowledge of law enforcement or State and Federal requirements — making bad decisions that will affect the security and safety of every Ronan citizen. All the mayor and some city councilmembers want is full control over the its police services so they can make their own rules. Ronan currently needs 24-7 law enforcement coverage now, not a part-time police/on call.
Ronan has no real coverage as yet. What’s it going to take, someone’s death?
Councilmembers Roger Romero and Ellen Kaphammer have the right idea in considering outsourcing its law enforcement services. All Ronan citizens, please be at the next city council meeting on July 6 at 6 p.m. at Ronan City Hall. Please let your voice be heard as it will benefit you and your loved ones.
