POLSON — Bring the family for rides on trains, enjoy ice cream treats and chili dogs, catch a ride on one of at least three Army rigs — including a Jeep with a machine gun — then watch a sawmill in action. See the tennis ball cannon and many more vintage vehicles, motorcycles and museum exhibits at the Miracle of Museum’s Live History Days on July 19 and 20. Times are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Gil Mangels, president of the board of directors of the museum, said, “We’ll be doing sidecar rides in a 1931 Henderson 4-cylinder motorcycle with a sidecar.”

The Henderson is a rare, collectible motorcycle, Mangels said, one many folks don’t know about.

Local saddlemaker Ed Phillips will be working in the saddle shop with his leatherworker wife Trina nearby making leather items and pinecone baskets.

In addition, a ham radio operator will be on site. Other craftsmen and artisans will be set up around the grounds. Mangels and his crew have added to many of the exhibits.

“We’d like to encourage the younger generation,” Mangels said. “All of the exhibitors are very happy to mentor younger people so we can try and get younger folk interested.”
