June Fitzpatrick

HELENA — June Ilene (Ereaux) Fitzpatrick, a retired bookkeeper, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, July 3, at her family home in Helena.  She was surrounded by her loving family with many caring and precious prayers.

June was born on Aug. 4, 1937, in Wheeler, Mont. She was raised in South Wagner, Mont. with 10 siblings. She attended elementary school at Four Corners Country School in Wagner where she excelled in all sports including boys’ basketball. June graduated from Malta High School in 1955. She was a homecoming queen and a cheerleader for the mighty Malta Mustangs. After graduation, she worked at the Ford Garage and was an excellent waitress at Dot and Al’s Diner in Malta. While in high school, and for many years after, she assisted in raising her younger siblings.

In 1958, June married Jim (Fitz) Fitzpatrick, a teacher at Malta High School. They moved to Dillon, Mont., in 1962 where June was employed as a bank teller at First National Bank. In the summers, she worked for Boy’s State at Western Montana College. In 1963, they were forever blessed with the birth of their daughter, Rhonda Lee.

In 1964, the family moved to Helena where June was employed at Associated Management Service doing books for Sieben Livestock, Montana Tavern Association and Rocky Mountain Development Council. June was an integral part of the bookkeeping service. Her knowledge and work ethic was greatly valued by her colleagues.

After 40 years of being employed as a bookkeeper, June retired in 1995. She continued her love of sewing, crocheting and crafts. Many family members were blessed with treasured blankets and embroidered items.

Her generosity and love of family was so plentiful. Many family members have turned to June for assistance in many ways. She was the confidant, the friend that would never tell and the one who understood. Her zest for life was contagious and shined on all who knew her. She brought fun to every family function and always knew the way to enjoy life.

June was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fitz; parents Fred and Ilene; sister LaDonna Itciana ; brothers Ezzie and Carrol. June is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Hinman (Mike) of Polson; sisters Claris Darrah and Darla Barthelmess (Leo) of Malta; Phyllis Harrington of Helena and Stella Murray (John) of Great Falls; and brothers Roger, Byron (Lynette), Roy George (Marian) all of Malta and many nieces and nephews.

June’s laughter and passion for life will be so missed. Services for June have taken place. Please visit www.aswfuneralhome.com to offer the family a condolence or to share a memory of June.
