Arlee cross country team returns 8 runners

ARLEE — The hot weather did not slow down the Arlee boys’ cross-country team this past week.
In their first two meets, several runners have already improved their times.
Arlee hosted the Fish Hatchery Run last Tuesday and this weekend they competed in the Kalispell Invitational.
Arlee’s Zane Ligas improved his time by over a minute at the Fish Hatchery Run with a time of 22.59.
“He really stepped up this year and I expect course records the entire season from him,” Dreiling said.
Then at Kalispell, Michael Brown improved his course personal record by a minute and a half. Also, at the same meet, Blayton Matt improved his time in the junior varsity race enough to move up to varsity.
On the girl’s side, Jenna Pablo placed 10th at the Fish Hatchery Run with a time of 27.25. In Kalispell, Tayla Desjarlais ran a time of 32.40, Des Nault’s time was 33.27 and Ontequa Matt ran a time of 35.28.
“Our goals for this year include improving both course personal records and our team standings at State,” Dreiling said. This year is her fourth year as head coach and she is also a kindergarten teacher at Arlee Elementary.
Returning this year are Nault and Desjarlais for the girls and Plant, Brown, Reece Pierce, Ligas, Dominic Burland and Jordan Keltner on the boys side.
“On top of all our returning runners (six boys and two girls) we have some very talented new runners,” Dreiling said.
