Learn Native culture, traditions
PABLO — The People’s Center holds Native American Awareness Week activities during the second week of September. Events are geared towards educating school children about Salish, Pend’Oreille and Kootenai history, culture and traditions. The week’s activities and events are free and open to the community to participate in. See demonstrations of slicing and drying wild game, fry bread making, hide tanning, drumming and singing and native dancing. Best Beginnings meeting held in Pablo
PABLO — Best Beginnings Children’s Partnership meeting will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 12, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a light breakfast, coffee and networking. From 9-10:30 a.m. there will be presentations including Dr. Hall from St. Joseph entitled, “Prenatal Substance Exposure and Childhood Behavior: A closer look at prenatal substance exposure effects on early childhood behavior.” Brianna Ewert from LCCDC will talk about childcare co-ops. This meeting is in conjunction with Project Launch’s Child Wellness Council monthly meetings at Tribal Council Chambers in Pablo. For more information call 406- 883-7373.
