'Meet and greet' candidates
POLSON — On Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 6-8 p.m., the Polson Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate meet and greet at the North Lake County Public Library meeting room. Candidates vying for Lake County Commissioner, District 20 District Court Judge, House District 93 and House District 12 will be on hand. Refreshments will be served.

POLSON — Please join us for the community dance at the Elks on Main Street on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 7-10 p.m. in the Elks’ ballroom. We provide snacks during break at 8:30 p.m. Music is by Ken’s Country Combo band and they play a variety of vintage country and rock and roll. Everyone is welcome. No Elks membership is required. Cover charge for the evening is $5. Come and check us out.

Try geocaching at the library
POLSON — Come to the North Lake County Library on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m. for a presentation on geocaching by Stephanie Nordberg of the Polson Geocachers. This will be followed by a chance to try out a geocaching application and start your own geocaching quest.

Enjoy 'Art in Autumn' reception

Zumba to raise funds for animal rescue
POLSON - Please join us for a Zumba-thon fundraiser to benefit Life Savers Animal Rescue on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 12:30 till 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 512 Main Street. Let's dance, have fun and contribute to a worthy cause. Shop with vendors, bid in the silent auction, plus there will be drawings for free prizes throughout the event. Buy tickets at the door: adults - $5 and children under 12 are free.

Free grant writing workshop offered
POLSON — Register now for a free grant writing workshop for small museums and non-profit organizations sponsored by the Montana History Foundation. 48th Harvest Dinner planned
POLSON - The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 406 Fourth Ave. E, will hold its 48th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, homemade lefse, salad and dessert from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, in the church fellowship hall. Dinner is $10 per adult, $5 per child under 12 years. Call ahead to place take-out orders at 406-883-5864, which is available for pick up after 3 p.m. Dinner proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County.
Polson students provide dual-school concert
POLSON — A concert will be held on Oct. 25 in the Polson High School auditorium and is for both Polson Middle School and Polson High School. The middle school concert begins at 6 p.m. and the high school concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The choirs are hosting a food drive and donations are appreciated but not expected.
Watch silent movie filmed in part in Montana
POLSON — “Free Night at the Museum” takes place on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Miracle of America Museum, 36094 Memory Lane. The evenings begin at 6:30 p.m. and are free and family-friendly. On Thursday, Oct. 25, the 1926 silent film, partially filmed in Hardin, Montana depicts Rex, “The Devil Horse.” There are enough captions to follow the story line and the movie is 90 minutes long.

Joe Read to speak
POLSON — The LCRCC and Pachyderm organizations will co-host a “Get to Know Your Candidate Series” with Joe Read, candidate for House District 93, as their next speaker on Friday, Oct. 26, from noon-1 p.m. at the Polson Rural Fire Station.
Painted pumpkins on display
POLSON — The Kwataqnuk partnered with PBC, First Interstate, Super One Foods and the entire second grade class at Linderman Elementary to make the annual Polson Business Community Pumpkin Painting event happen. All 120 plus painted pumpkins will be on display and judged on Friday, Oct. 26. Judges will be: Shawneen Turner, Shad Hupka, Marilyn Frame, and Evonne O’Neill. First Interstate Bank will provide the first-place prize.
