POLSON — The Lake County Democrats will hold their regular monthly meeting at the North Lake County Library on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. for a social time followed by a program at 7:00 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Grete Gansauer with the Montana Wilderness Association based in Whitefish Mt. Please join us to learn more about the stakes of public land transfer, current policy ideas that are threatening our public lands today, and what you can do about it. All are welcome.

POLSON — Join us at the North Lake County Library on Feb. 22 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. for an international experience. While the world watches the Winter Olympics, we will demonstrate our global digital resources, including World Book, A to Z World Food, and world music from Freegal. Join us for learning and light refreshments from around the world.

POLSON — Enjoy a free movie at at the Miracle of America Museum’s, (36094 Memory Lane), “Night at Museum.” This event is held on the fourth Thursday evening of each month. This month on Feb. 22 we will show a heartwarming movie entitled, “Last Man Club,” about a World War II veteran who escapes his nursing home and goes on a cross-country road trip to find the last surviving members of his B-17 crew. In addition to the movie we are digging out our collection of over 400 vintage valentines for the month of February. Enjoy the “Art in Heart” as you view the thematic valentines spread around the museum’s diversified displays. Whether serious, sexy, schmaltzy, or just plain silly, you’ll fall in love with this exhibit. The movie is at 6:30 p.m. at The Miracle of America Museum.

POLSON — Greg Hertz of HD 12 will be speaking at the Pachyderm meeting Friday, Feb. 23, at noon to share updates on state revenue, state budget and the lawsuit filed by Montana State Fund policy holders against the state of Montana for the new fee assessed against MSF reserves. Location will be Rural Polson Fire Department building on Regatta Road in Polson.

POLSON — Montana’s vitality and livability depend on a thriving nonprofit sector. We are creating a future where nonprofits are recognized and celebrated, have the resources needed to fulfill their missions, and are strategically connected with one another and with partners in business and government. The Montana Nonprofit Association will offer four courses in Polson starting on Feb. 23. The topic that first day will be board governance. A new topic will be covered each month for the following three months. POLSON — The ninth annual Winterfest fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Elks. A spaghetti dinner for $12, wil be served from 5-7 p.m. A painted-chair auction, a live auction, a silent auction, a 50/50 split pot and music by Rob and Halladay Quist will be yours to enjoy during this fun-filled, family evening. Proceeds will benefit Soup's On at the Wander Inn, serving a free meal Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to1 p.m.

POLSON — The Sandpiper Art and Gift Gallery, 306 Main Street, welcome you to “Mixing It Up,” Feb. 27-April 6. This is a non-juried art show, open to all artists. Artistic interpretation of the them in any medium will be accepted. There is a small entry fee for non-Sandpiper member artists. Visit the website for more information. A reception for the show’s artists will be held on Friday, March 2, from 5-7 p.m. at the gallery.

POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club will meet this Thursday, March 1, from noon-1 p.m. at the Kwa- TaqNuk Resort, downstairs in Koostatah Room. Our guest speaker will be Polson Schools Superintendent Rex Weltz. He will give us the state of the Polson Schools as well as an update on the Linderman Gym repairs.

POLSON — On Thursday, March 1, at 7 p.m., join us in the North Lake County Library meeting room for a presentation by former KPAX reporter Ian Marquand. For 35 years Montana has enjoyed a “sister state” relationship with the prefecture of Kumamoto, Japan. Join Ian as he shares the special character of Kumamoto - its connection with former Ambassador Mike Mansfield, its natural beauty, its cultural heritage and its charming modern mascot, Kumamon. He’ll also celebrate the unique friendship Kumamoto offers to Montanans.

POLSON — The Mission Valley Ice Arena Association is hosting the second annual WinterFest on Saturday, March 3. This event will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and will include our new favorite sport, Broomball, and some hockey drills and other games, as well as hot beverages. We are working to use Riverside Park again. We would like to thank the Greater Polson Community Foundation for helping us continue to make this a free event for families. Stay tuned, as this event will be loads of fun for the entire family.

POLSON — The Northwest Accordion Association meets the first Sunday of every month at the Elks on Main Street, from 2-5:00 PM. All musicians, including singers, plus spectators and dancers are invited. Join us on March 4.

POLSON — The Lake County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting Monday, March 5, at noon. The meeting will be held at the Polson Rural Fire Hall on Regatta Road. Ron Catlett, Northwest Field Representative for U.S. Senator Steve Daines, will be the guest speaker. There will be a question and answer period following his presentation.
