2019 Farmers Markets

Lake County vendors invited to Bigfork through Oct. 9

BIGFORK — The Bigfork Farmers’ Market Cooperative will take place each Wednesday until October 9. The market takes place between 3-6 p.m. on the lawn at The Bigfork VFW, 8098 Highway 35. Ronan Farmers Market through September 26

RONAN — The 2019 Ronan Farmers Market will open on Thursday, May 16, at the Ronan Visitors’ Center. Hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursdays throughout the spring and summer until Sept. 26 (except for July 4). For more information, call 406-676-5901 or go to cryse. heiner@lakecountycdc.org. They are seeking produce and prepared food vendors. The Ronan Farmers Market offers fresh produce, cheeses, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods, and crafts from the Mission Valley.

Shop local at Polson's farmers market through Sept. 

POLSON — Starting on Friday, May 3, Polson Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Friday, rain or shine. The market is located at Third Ave. W. and will have homegrown produce and plants, coffee, jewelry, soaps, popsicles, baked goods, meats, eggs, cheese, preserved foods, fabric, photographic and handmade art, beauty products, wood working and much, much more. Class offers help for caregivers through June 7

POLSON — Are you caring for a loved one? Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is hosting the Area VI Agency on Aging’s six-week series of classes designed to help caregivers with the many physical and emotional challenges they face. Library begins monthly movie night

POLSON — Enjoy “Friday Night at the Library” on the fourth Friday of each month. North Lake County Library will show movies rated PG or PG-13 ( posted on our website) and make fresh popcorn. This program debuts Friday, Jan. 25. Be in the library before 6 p.m. to be included. Feel free to bring your own nonalcoholic beverage and snacks.

Move for better balance

RONAN — Tai Ji Quan is a moving-for-better-balance class and will be offered by a certified instructor at the MSU Lake County Extension on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. beginning May 13. This is an alternative exercise training program for improving balance and preventing falls. There is no cost. Please wear good shoes and clothes you can move in and bring water. Move for better balance through June

POLSON — The spring session of “Moving for Better Balance,” an adapted Tai Chi program, will begin on Tuesday, April 9. It will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11 a.m. at the Polson Senior Center. The class will run until the end of June. Call Jane at the Agency on Aging to sign up 406-883-7284.

MSU alumni play golf

MSU alumni play golf POLSON — Polson Bay Golf Club will host the MSU golf scramble on July 27. The format will be similar to last year’s event. The scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. followed by a social hour and barbecue. The entry fee is $500 per team. All proceeds benefit the MSU Bobcat Athletic Scholarship Fund. POLSON — Please join us on Wednesday, March 20, from 7-10 p.m. for the community dance at the Elks on Main Street. Music is by Ken’s Country Combo playing a variety of country and vintage rock and roll. We had an additional accordion and a base player join us last time. Snacks provided during break at 8:30 p.m. We will celebrate March birthdays with a special cake. Everyone is welcome. No Elks membership is required. The cover charge is $5.

Lake County Democrats to meet

POLSON — Lake County Democrats will meet on Wednesday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Polson library to discuss drug issues and enforcement activities in Lake County. Museum discussed

POLSON — Karen Dunwell, president of Polson-Flathead Historical Museum, will speak to the Polson Kiwanis Club on Thursday, March 21, downstairs at the KwaTaqNuk at noon. She will talk about the history of the museum, new developments and upcoming events, including a Flathead Monster Fishing Tournament slated for 2020. The public is welcome. The Lewings from the Port Polson Players had to cancel their March 7 presentation due to the weather but will be at the April 4 meeting. We look forward to hearing from them at that time.

Get there early because beginning at 6 p.m. we will show a family-friendly movie (PG or PG-13) about a funny little bear and his friends reuniting with their now adult friend. You must be in the library before 6 p.m. to attend, as the doors lock at 6 p.m.

Pachyderms to hear climate specialist speak

POLSON — On March 22 at 7 p.m., the Polson Pachyderm Club is sponsoring a talk on climate by Ed Berry, PhD, at the Performing Arts Center, Boys and Girls Club, Ronan, Montana. The public is invited to attend at no cost. Ed is a professional climate physicist with degrees from Caltech, Dartmouth, and Nevada. Dr. Ed will focus on how much human CO2 emissions change atmospheric CO2. All government reports assume human emissions are responsible for all the increase in atmospheric CO2. However, no reports back up that assumption with valid scientific data. Attend this presentation to learn what no one has told you before about climate change.
