POLSON — The Polson Chamber of Commerce’s August SPLASH will be held on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 5- 7 p.m. This event will be hosted by Riverside Recreation, 412 Second Street West and co-host will be OH Well Drill and Pump. POLSON — The seventh annual Flathead Lake Blues Festival will be held Friday, Aug. 18. Music includes Andre Floyd and the Mood Iguana, the Mike Murray Band, Halladay Quist, Ticket Sauce, Off in the Woods, the Kenny James Miller Band, Big Daddy and the Blue Notes, Jameson and the Sordid Seeds and Mudslide Charley. On Saturday, Aug. 19, the music includes the Michelle Taylor Band, Estelle and the Atomic Jive, Polly O’Keary and the Rhythm Method and Andrea Harsell and the Luna Roja. POLSON — North Lake County Public Library is hosting a Solar Eclipse Block Party on Monday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. A total solar eclipse will cross the United States on that day. In Polson we will see about 89% totality. The North Lake County Library Foundation is hosting a $5 hot dog lunch with all proceeds going toward the library’s Family Summer Reading Program. Mission Valley Eye Center/Ronan Eye Clinic has generously sponsored the purchase of more than 200 pairs of solar eclipse glasses that will be available at the party to safely view the eclipse. There will be crafts for kids, educational displays, a photo booth, music and more. We will have limited seating available – feel free to bring a lawn chair for comfort. The library will also be holding a huge book sale in the meeting room from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. that day. We hope to see you there.

POLSON — The free “Night at the Museum” held at the Miracle of America Museum, 36094 Memory Lane, is held on the fourth Thursday evening of each month. On Thursday, Aug. 24, the program will answer a couple of the most commonly asked questions from museum visitors. Namely, “How did this museum get started?” and “Where did you get all of your stuff?” This event will also celebrate founder Gil Mangel’s 75th birthday so there will be cake and ice cream or root beer floats. POLSON — The Flathead River Indian Rodeo will be held at the Polson Fair Grounds on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 25 and 26, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens, children 6 and under are free. POLSON — After a dormant year, I’m going to try to revive the “Pickin’ in the Park” gang at the “Boardwalk” in Boettcher Park. The boardwalk is is adjacent to the Port Polson Playhouse. If you sing or play any musical (electric or acoustic) instrument or just want to sit and listen, then join us each Friday at 3 p.m. starting June 16. A lawn chair and blanket may be advisable, and if you get hungry then stop and eat at the Boardwalk food booth. The music genres start in the 1950s, but any year is OK … join us.

POLSON — The Polson Flathead Historical Museum, “The Pioneer Museum on Main Street” invites you to view amazing exhibits of daily life in the Mission Valley and Flathead Lake area in the late 1800s and early 1900s, such as the stagecoach, chuck wagon, fire trucks, Calamity Jane’s saddle and Flathead Lake’s ‘Nessie” (some say it was, some say it wasn’t, caught here) and much more. We open for the season on Memorial Day each year, and goes until Friday, Sept. 15. The museum is located at 708 Main Street and operates Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Closed on Sundays) There is a visitor fee of $10 and children under 10 years old are admitted free with a paying adult. POLSON — The Northwest Montana Accordion Association will meet at the Elks in Polson on Sunday, Sept. 3, from 2-5:30 p.m.

POLSON — Sandpiper Art Gallery, 306 Main Street, Polson, presents “Making It Up as I Go.” This exhibit will definitely capture your imagination. It features artists Nancy Miler (painter), Donna Winn (3D mixed media), Nancy Zadra (impressionist/ abstract painter), Gerald Garcelone (woodwork), Susan Evans (3D mixed media), Carol Rae (jewelry), and Sue Ball (lino-prints). The exhibit will run from Sept. 4 until Oct. 13. Artists reception for this exhibit is on Sept. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Gallery.

POLSON — The Sept. 6 luncheon meeting of the Polson Chamber of Commerce will feature Nick Kaufman of the WGM Group in Missoula. The luncheon will be held at the Red Lion Ridgewater Inn from noon-1 p.m. Cost of the luncheon will be $11. Reservations are not required. POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club meet the first and third Thursday each month at KwaTaqNuk Resort, Koostatah room downstairs, from noon-1 p.m. Our speaker on Sept. 7 will be American Legion Commander Russ Harbin who will talk about the Boy Scouts. Among other activities, the Polson Boy Scout Troop 1947 participated with the American Legion on Flag Day, June 14, to give tired flags a proper send off at the Lake View Cemetery. Russ will discuss the role of the Boy Scouts in the Polson community. All are welcome.

POLSON — Inviting all Lake County Democrats to come together on Friday, Sept. 8, for our annual picnic, where you will meet new friends and connect with old friends. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. at Boettcher Park (next to the Polson Golf Course). Ham and turkey will be provided. Please bring a side dish, chair and your favorite drink. POLSON — Lake County Commissioner Bill Barron will speak at the Friday, Sept. 8, noon meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club at the Polson Rural Fire Department Building, 25 Regatta Road. He will talk about the Annual UM Aber Day Kegger and Reunion Concert and how it came to Polson and how long it is expected to remain. Everyone who wants to learn about the concrete stage built at the Fairgrounds and the expected economic impact of this endeavor is invited to attend the meeting.

POLSON — Violinist Byron Wallis and piano performer Alfredo Oyaguez will give a special performance on Friday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 301 Fourth Ave. E. POLSON – North Lake County Public Library in Polson is holding a peanut butter drive the week of Sept. 11-16. All contributions from this weeklong event will be donated to the Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry. Overdue fines will be reduced by one dollar for each item donated. POLSON — “Coloring with Class,” an adult coloring program, will be offered on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room at 2 First Ave. E. In this session, Angela will use art principles to give a curated coloring piece a simple matting and frame. There will be lots of visual examples, supplies and encouragement in this fun, hands-on mini workshop, and, of course, the usual yummy snacks and coloring choices. POLSON — The regular monthly meeting of the Polson Rural Fire District Board of Trustees will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station, no. 1 meeting room, 25-B Regatta Rd. There is a permanent time change to 6 p.m. for all future meetings.

POLSON — The Montana Cherry Symposium will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, at the KwaTuqNuk Resort. The Montana Department of Agriculture and the Montana Cherry Advisory Committee will host the event. Speakers will address topics on orchard systems, pollination, harvest methods, produce safety and nutrition. Producer and speaker panels will address questions that directly affect the growers. POLSON — Polson High School Native American Club (Indigenous United Nations Youth Club) will have a suicide awareness walk and candlelight event on Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at Polson High School.

POLSON — Lake County High School Rodeo will be held at Polson Fairgrounds Saturday, Sept. 16 starting at 9:30 a.m. Two rodeos will run that day. Watch as the girls and boys participate in a wide range of rodeo activities: barrels, saddle broncs, goat tying, and breakaway and possibly there will be sports shooting. POLSON — On Sept. 16, at the Red Lion Inn from 6-9 p.m., the Mission Valley Animal Shelter will hold a Puppy Party fundraiser to benefit the shelter and a much needed puppy room addition as well as upgrades and repairs. A prime rib and salmon dinner will be provided by the Finley Point Grill following a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres. POLSON —On Saturday, Sept. 16, we will host a ZumbaThon Fundraiser. The proceeds will go towards supporting our local special education programs. The event will include a bake sale, a silent auction, a ticket raffle, and of course dancing. It will take place on Sept. 16 from 3-5 p.m. at the Polson High School gymnasium. Tickets are currently on sale for $10 for ages 12 and up and $5 for ages 4-11, and free for ages 3 and under.
