Learn to use computer tablets
POLSON — The North Lake County Library will offer a computer class on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 2-3:30 p.m. This class is called “Tablets: What they are & how to use them.” Please call the Library at 406-883-8225 to reserve your spot.

Fifth Friday dinner held
POLSON – Polson Community Church, located at 1814 First Street, E, will serve barbecue chicken, potato salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, dinner rolls and dessert. Dinner will be served from 4:30-6:30 p.m. No offering is expected or accepted. Please come and join us for a wonderful night of food and friendship.

Summer hours announced through September 10
POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library will begin their summer hours on Friday, June 1. They will be open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Sunday, September 2
Dance, jam with musicians
POLSON — Polson’s Northwest Accordion Association’s Jam/Dance will take place on Sunday, Sept. 2. Our accordion jams/dances are held on the first Sunday of each month at the Elks ballroom on Main Street. Accordion, guitar, banjo, violin, mandolin, etc., are all welcome to come and play. Singers who sing country or accordion type music are encouraged to come with or without an instrument and to bring a mic and amp if you have them. If you play, you don’t pay, to get in. Admission is $2 for Association members, $3 for non-members and $5 if you would like to become a member of the Association. We do have a great time together, so please come if you can.

Sandpiper begins new exhibit
POLSON — The Sandpiper Art and Gift Gallery, 306 Main Street, begins their new exhibit, “Where Were You Hiding?” This exhibit runs from Sept. 3-Oct. 12. This is a non-juried show, open to all artists. Artistic interpretation of the theme, in any medium, will be accepted. There is a small entry fee for non-Sandpiper member artists. Calling all Republicans
POLSON — In preparation for this important election year we welcome all Republican and conservative volunteers to the Lake County Republican Central Committee on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to prepare for voter drives, headquarters development and building our team for the 2018 election year. We encourage people to step forward in having a voice to shape your future. Please tell your friends and family who care about America to get involved and make a difference. The meeting will take place at the Polson Rural Fire Department.
Free Zen Meditation class offered
POLSON — A free Zen Meditation class offered at the Yoga- Heart Studio, 314 Main Street, on Wednesdays in September will take place on Sept. 5, 12 and 19 at 6 p.m. The classes will be presented by Zen Priest Zenku, Jerry Smyers. Polson holds vintage country, rock'n roll dance
POLSON — Dance at the Elks' Ballroom, on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 7-10 p.m. to the Ken’s Country Combo Band. They play a variety of vintage country and rock and roll (pop) tunes that you can vary your dancing to a waltz, one- or two-step, cha-cha, etc. Dress is casual. The valley showed they have an interest in old country/rock and roll, etc., type music by the attendance at Cowboy Country and The Gold Dust Girls dance, held at the Elks a few weeks ago. So, if you want a place to dance, please come and join us on the first and third Wednesday of each month. We provide snacks at 8:30 p.m. during the break. The cover charge is $5 and drinks, soft drinks and water are available for purchase in the bar.

POLSON — Democrats are invited to Boettcher Park for a picnic/potluck on Friday, Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m. (If it’s not too smoky.) Ham, turkey, wine, lemonade and water will be provided. You are asked to supply side dishes and desserts. BYOB, chairs and smiles. No glassware please. JIMnI will provide music and candidates Susan Evans, HD 12; Eldena Bear Don’t Walk, HD 93; and Caroline McDonald, Lake County Commissioner; will speak. A wine basket will be raffled. Please give generously to all the candidates when the “giving basket” comes around. It helps their campaigns. We need democrats to win in November. Mission Valley Live kicks off season
POLSON — Mission Valley Life kicks off their 2018-19 season with a fundraising concert featuring renowned violin virtuoso Wai Mizutani and friends. The event begins at 7 p.m. at New Life Church, 1414 Second Street W. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $15. A reception with refreshments will be held prior to the concert beginning at 6 p.m.
Puppy Party II Fundraiser held
POLSON — The Mission Valley Animal Shelter’s second annual Puppy Party is being held Friday, Sept. 7, at the Red Lion Inn from 6-10 p.m. Finley Point Grill is catering the event. This largest annual fundraiser for MVAS is to raise funds for improvements to the shelter so that it can continue to fulfill its mission to “Save More Lives.” There will be over 100 silent auction items as well as 15-20 live auction items that include a Jamaica vacation, a Whitefish ski package, a handmade cedar kayak, an auto services package, a 14-foot tipi, a Glacier National Park package, valuable art, scenic flights and much, much more. Only 200 tickets are available for the dinner so if you don’t have yours yet, call the shelter at 406-883-5312 to get one ... or two.

Free Republican training workshop planned
POLSON — The Republican Leadership Institute is traveling around Montana teaching people on the ground to master cutting edge campaign technology, leadership and volunteer networking skills. We won great victories in 2016, but Making America Great Again has just begun. We are building teams across Montana. Library toddler program begins at new time
POLSON — The Mother Goose reading program offered by North Lake County Library remains on Mondays but now begins at 10:30 a.m. Please take note of this new time. The half-hour program is for toddlers (ages 0-3) and their caregivers any Monday the library is open. There are always nursery rhymes and stories galore. The library will be celebrating the Great American Read/PBS program during September and invites you to check out one of the 100 books America will be talking about.
Republican women return from summer break
POLSON — The Lake County Republican Women will return from a summer break for their first meeting on Sept. 10, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Polson Rural Fire Department. Women are invited to enjoy social time and the energy of like-minded women looking to influence their world and community for the better.
