‘Stepping On’ class teaches seniors strength, balance through May 27

POLSON — St. Joseph Medical Center is holding “Stepping On,” a falls-prevention program. This class meets for two hours a week for seven weeks starting April 15. It aims to reduce the more than one-third of adults 65 or older who fall every year. By joining our “Stepping On” workshop, you will learn tips on strength and balance exercises, identification of safe footwear, medications' contribution to fall-risk, eliminating fall hazards in your home, and so much more. This course has been shown to reduce fall risk by up to 30 percent. Join and learn with people your own age how to step outside your home with confidence. Free parenting course focuses on ‘Connecting with Your Kids’ through April 28

LAKE COUNTY — The Sunburst Community Service Foundation, is providing courses for parents. The courses are based on an early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children.

The eight-week course, “Connecting with Your Kids,” will take place in Polson. The course is free but registration is required. Childcare will be available. Students who complete the course will receive a Circle of Security Certificate. The course will begin on Friday, March 7, and run eight weeks. Hot Springs Artists Society holds 2014 Juried Art Show through June 30

HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs Artists Society’s 2014 Juried Art Show will be in May and June with entry forms out by the end of February. It is open to everyone. Paintings, drawings, mixed media and sculpture, carving, metal sculpture, pottery and other original handmade works of art are accepted.

HSAS meets the first Wednesday of each month at The On the Wall Gallery at 7 p.m. at Wall St. Place.  


Sandpiper Gallery show through May 9

Sandpiper Art & Gift Gallery presents ‘Cameras & Color’ a bright show that zooms in on invited artists Patrick Berry (watercolor), Lael Gray (various paint mediums), Kay Langlan (B&W photography printed on metal) and Sandpiper member Nancy Miller (floral paintings). Sewing machine maintenance class


There will be a sewing machine maintenance class on Jan. 9 at the St. Ignatius Senior Center held in conjunction with the Thursday Quilters. Bring your machine, a project to work on, a potluck dish to share and $10 for the class, which takes place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
