Montana artists' show at Hangin' Art Gallery through Oct. 24
ARLEE — Karen Goulet, director of the Salish Kootenai Art Department, will be the featured artist at the Killdeer Artisans’ Guild summer show. The show presents new works from Montana artists at Hangin’ Art Gallery in Arlee. The show will remain up until Oct. 24.
Art auction provides funds for PEACE
POLSON — In honor of October as domestic violence awareness month, Prevention and Education of Abuse and Christian Environments, (PEACE), will hold their first official fundraiser. Please join them for a silent art auction on Oct. 24 from 6-8 p.m. in the community room of the Mission Valley Aquatics Center. Desserts and hors d’oeuvres will be served as bids can be placed on beautiful artwork from local artists. Big Arm Association holds potluck
BIG ARM — The Big Arm Association is holding its October Potluck on Friday, Oct. 24, at our historic Big Arm School. Bring a dish to share with your friends and neighbors. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. We are privileged to have Byron Crow as our guest speaker at 7 p.m. His presentation will be: “Raptors, our neighbors around the Lake and what it tells us,” will be an introduction to various raptor species which live around Flathead Lake. Communication workshops offered
ST. IGNATIUS — Free training is being offered in nonviolent communication for families, couples, teachers, work situations and law enforcement on Oct. 24 from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
The training will take place at SKC in the Camas Room.
Trainers are Patrick Marsolek and Aimee Ryan.
A light lunch will be provided.

Dinner, auction to benefit cancer fighter
POLSON — A benefit dinner and silent auction will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Polson VFW for Becky Cooper, a longtime waitress at Regatta Pizza who is fighting stage four colon rectal cancer. Because Becky is a huge football fan, people are asked to come wearing Becky’s favorite Pittsburgh Steelers’ colors — yellow and black — or any NFL team jersey or colors.
Organizers are also seeking donation items for the silent auction.
All proceeds will go to Becky’s medical expenses.

Learn mental health action plan
PABLO — An 8-hour Mental Health First Aid course is being offered on Oct. 24 beginning at 9 p.m. at SKC’s Johnny Arlee/Victor Charlo Theater. The course teaches a 5-step action plan to offer initial help to people with the signs or symptoms of a mental illness or in a crisis, and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social, or self help care. Speaker to address Pachyderms about Polson Chamber
POLSON — Rob Turner, president of the Polson Chamber of Commerce, will report on the “State of the Polson Chamber of Commerce” at the Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. The group meets at the Polson Rural Fire Department building on Regatta Road, Polson.
