Gallery presents work of renowned artist through Nov. 11
POLSON — Takes Horse Gallery, 49487 US Highway 93, is proud to present “Art in Autumn,” an exhibition featuring the work of renowned artist John Gawne. A member of the CM Russell Museum’s elite Skull Society, John Gawne’s paintings of the western landscape and Native Americans are shown in some of the most prestigious galleries in the country. This is a unique opportunity see his work, as well as paintings by some of Montana’s and the Northwest’s best artists: John Gawne, David Dragonfly, DG House, Tabby Ivy, John Pepion, Rachel Warner and Shannon Webster. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, from 4-8 p.m. The exhibition will run from Oct. 6-Nov. 11.
Learn the Art of Meditation

Family Halloween fun on tap at Ronan Library
RONAN — The Ronan Library will close at noon on Thursday, Oct. 26, to get ready for the family Halloween party set for 4-6 p.m. at the library (changed from the Community Center). There will be a costume contest and lots of fun and games. Plan on being there.
Swedish meal served at Harvest Dinner
POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its 47th annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, in the church fellowship hall. Watch movie shot in Montana at MOAM
POLSON — Miracle of America shows historic movies on their free “Night at the Museum” program. On Thursday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. “Timberjack,” a feature-length movie filmed in 1955 in Glacier National Park will be shown. Set in Montana in the late 1880s, two logging operators compete for survival. The Truecolor movie stars Sterling Hayden, Vera Ralston, and David Brian. Adolphe Menjou, Hoagy Carmichael and Chill Wills make character appearances. A portion of this movie was shot in Polson and is evident as you watch this action packed thriller. The public is welcome. Spooky, spookier haunted houses open
RONAN — The RHS Advanced Theatre Arts students are having a haunted house on Oct. 27 and Oct. 30 at the Ronan Performing Arts Center. There is a kid-friendly version from 6-7 p.m. and then a spookier version from 8-10 p.m. Admission is $3 per person.
Walgreens holds pumpkin carving, painting contest
POLSON — I wanted to tell you about our second annual Pumpkin Carving/ Painting Contest at the Polson Walgreens. A winner will be chosen by the public and will receive a $25 gift card. Have entries in by Friday, Oct. 27, to be entered. Happy carving.
Wear costume in ‘Light the Night’ run
RONAN — The third annual Light the Night suicide awareness run at the Ronan High School track is presented by the Your Life Matters Project. The event takes place from 6:30-10 p.m. An online registration link is on the Your Life Matters Project facebook page. This is a fun 5K and 1-mile run/ walk for suicide awareness and a family event for all ages and abilities. It is so close to Halloween that we love to do costumes so plan on dressing up and having some fun. This is a night time run with fun things along the course. A day of Bible study on life issues and a presentation by Jennifer Rolfsness in regard to Helping Hands and the ‘Baby Box’ project will be the day’s highlights. POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library invites all to our very own International Observe the Moon Night event on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. We will have a brief, family-friendly presentation followed by several handson activities and the chance to take a peek at the moon through a telescope. This event has been made possible by the North Lake County Public Library’s NASA@ MyLibrary grant, the generosity of our local residents, and a little elbow grease. Movie ‘Where the Spirit Lives’ shown in Ronan
RONAN — On Oct. 29 the movie, “Where the Spirit Lives,” a film about a girl taken by force to a residential school in Canada, will be shown with George Price leading a discussion after the film. The film will air at the Entertainer Cinema at 1 p.m.
Protestant Reformation celebrated
RONAN — Faith Lutheran Church, led by Pastor Seth Nelson, will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation throughout the fall. Reformation Sunday is Oct. 29 and our service on that day will include a number of special guest musicians. Additionally, throughout the fall Pastor Seth is teaching a class entitled “Still Figuring It Out: A History of Reformation Movements.” The class focuses not only on Martin Luther and the Lutheran movement, but also many other Christian reformers through the centuries. The class will explore the legacies of Jan Huss to John Wesley, Anabaptists to modern day Mennonites, American Revivalism to modern day Evangelicalism, and much more.

Pancake breakfast to raise funds at Yellow Bay
YELLOW BAY — The Yellow Bay Community Club will serve a pancake, eggs, ham and sausages breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m.-noon, at the clubhouse located on Highway 35 at mile-maker 18. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 8 and under. The event includes a bake sale, and new and gently used holiday decorations will be available for purchase. A silent auction featuring Hazel Conway’s one-of-kind crib blankets will be available to bidders during the event. Equestrian writers to present at meeting
RONAN — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen’s next monthly meeting is on Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW in Ronan. Kent and Charlene Krone, who write equestrian articles in the horse magazine “Trail Rider,” will be the meeting presenters. These equestrian travelers write articles about their experiences and their favorite places to camp and ride. They offer invaluable information from the equestrians’ perspective. They will show two DVDs with the total length of about 25 minutes. Our meetings are open to members and non-members alike.
Quilters change meeting time, place
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Ronan LDS Church. Anyone who would like to help with the 2018 raffle quilt can join those working on it at 4:00 p.m. The regular meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Remember to invite someone to the meeting and bring your show and tell. For anyone doing the Christmas Challenge: remember your item has to be done and turned in at the meeting.
