Children’s story time discusses favorite things
RONAN — On Thursday, Feb. 27, beginning at 11 a.m., Ronan District Library’s “Children’s Story Time” will be about all favorite things: stuffed animals, blankets, rainy days and puddles. The program includes reading, activities and crafts for preschool and elementary school age children, but all ages are welcome. The library is located at 203 Main Street, SW.

Daines’ rep to speak at Pachyderm meeting
POLSON — The Lake County Pachyderms invite the community to hear the northwest field representative for Steve Daines, Ron Catlett, speak on the Montana Water Rights Protection Act bill S-3019. On Friday, Feb. 28, from noon to 1 p.m. Catlett will share on behalf of the Senator’s office reasons why Daines introduced the bill and why he believes it is in the best interest of Montanans to see it passed in Congress. The meeting takes place at the Polson Rural Fire Station off Regatta Road in Polson.

Jam at Elks
POLSON — Classic Country Jammin’ will be held on March 1 in the Elks’ ballroom on Main Street from 1– 4 p.m. The time change is to allow for winter conditions and early sunset. This event takes place every first Sunday of the month. Bring your guitar, banjo, mandolin, autoharp, fiddle, drum, bass, sax, keyboard, etc., and join us for a few hours of fun. Bring your own amp or you may play acoustic. Everyone is welcome to play, sing, dance or just listen. We will have coffee and snacks for you. You do not have to be an Elk member to utilize the bar next door. The cover charge is $5 and there is no charge for singers or players. Learn to knit through March 31
POLSON — More needle arts begin in March at the North Lake County Public Library. “Knitting Basics” returns with four sessions on March 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 2-3 p.m. in the library meeting room. Beginning knitters, this class is for you. Master knitters Linda Kittle and Julie Hille can answer any questions you have. They also have the flexibility to help you finish the heel of that sock. Bring your projects and any knitting supplies you have on hand (yarn and needles). We will provide instruction, inspiration and can fill in with donated supplies from area knitters. See you there.

RONAN — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will hold their next monthly meeting on March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW on Round Butte Rd. We will discuss our upcoming work projects, trail rides, and our annual steak ride at the Meuli Ranch in Dayton on May 3, among other discussions. Make placemat tote bags with quilters
RONAN — Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will meet on Tuesday, March 3, at Terrace Lake Community Church, 35663 Terrace Lake Road, at 4 p.m. Prior to the regular meeting, Robyn Schock will provide instruction for making placemat tote bags. Bring your machines and supplies (or $5). Enjoy refreshments and mingle time just before the meeting which starts at 6:30 p.m. Remember to bring fat quarters and show-n-tells. Come check out the education class schedules. Kay Krantz will present an educational/instructional technique at the meeting. Guests of all skill levels are welcome.

New coloring experience offered
POLSON — Enjoy “Adult Coloring: Color Outside the Lines” on Thursday, March 5, from 2-3:30 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library’s meeting room. The library has hosted a popular coloring program since 2016. We have always stayed inside the lines, but no more. This time we will doodle our own lines and mandalas. Free the Seeds! 5th Annual Fair Join Free the Seeds! on March 7, 2020, 9 am-3:30 pm, at Flathead Valley Community College, Kalispell, Montana, for our 5th annual fair. This is a FREE community-powered event that encourages people to build a sustainable and resilient future through real seeds, real food, and real skills. The annual daylong fair features a giant seed swap, 40+ booths, 24 skill-building workshops, 4 panel discussions, and kids’ activities (ages 8+). Every aspect of the event emphasizes the importance of a strong local food system and each attendee’s role in it.
