2019 Farmers Markets

Lake County vendors invited to Bigfork through Oct. 9

BIGFORK — The Bigfork Farmers’ Market Cooperative will take place each Wednesday until October 9. The market takes place between 3-6 p.m. on the lawn at The Bigfork VFW, 8098 Highway 35. Ronan Farmers Market through September 26

RONAN — The 2019 Ronan Farmers Market will open on Thursday, May 16, at the Ronan Visitors’ Center. Hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursdays throughout the spring and summer until Sept. 26 (except for July 4). For more information, call 406-676-5901 or go to cryse. heiner@lakecountycdc.org. They are seeking produce and prepared food vendors. The Ronan Farmers Market offers fresh produce, cheeses, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods, and crafts from the Mission Valley.

Shop local at Polson's farmers market through Sept. 

POLSON — Starting on Friday, May 3, Polson Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Friday, rain or shine. The market is located at Third Ave. W. and will have homegrown produce and plants, coffee, jewelry, soaps, popsicles, baked goods, meats, eggs, cheese, preserved foods, fabric, photographic and handmade art, beauty products, wood working and much, much more. Class offers help for caregivers through June 7

POLSON — Are you caring for a loved one? Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is hosting the Area VI Agency on Aging’s six-week series of classes designed to help caregivers with the many physical and emotional challenges they face. Library begins monthly movie night

POLSON — Enjoy “Friday Night at the Library” on the fourth Friday of each month. North Lake County Library will show movies rated PG or PG-13 ( posted on our website) and make fresh popcorn. This program debuts Friday, Jan. 25. Be in the library before 6 p.m. to be included. Feel free to bring your own nonalcoholic beverage and snacks.

Men’s Friday afternoon cancer club through May 24

POLSON — If you are a man with any cancer diagnosis this group is for you. Join others for six meetings to discuss the issues men with cancer are facing Friday afternoons from 5:15-6:30 p.m. at the Bickford Building (upstairs). This group is free of charge. Coy Theobalt has been facilitating groups for men with cancer for more than 18 years. Call 406-578- 8078 to reserve a seat.

Move for better balance

RONAN — Tai Ji Quan is a moving-for-better-balance class and will be offered by a certified instructor at the MSU Lake County Extension on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. beginning May 13. This is an alternative exercise training program for improving balance and preventing falls. There is no cost. Please wear good shoes and clothes you can move in and bring water. Move for better balance through June

POLSON — The spring session of “Moving for Better Balance,” an adapted Tai Chi program, will begin on Tuesday, April 9. It will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11 a.m. at the Polson Senior Center. The class will run until the end of June. Call Jane at the Agency on Aging to sign up 406-883-7284.

New exhibit begins at Sandpiper Art Gallery through June 14

POLSON — Sandpiper Art Gallery, 306 Main Street, Polson, presents until June 14, “As I Was Wandering.” This exhibit will be everything we love about Montanans and the Montana experience. This show will feature past and present member artists; Sue Arneson (Montana Watercolor Artist), Carolyn Ekland-Olson (World Wide Photography), Karla Martinson (3D Paintings & Publisher), Mary Kelley (Plein Aire and the Old Masters in Oil), Judith Wright (Mixed Media). Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday.

Recovery support available

RONAN —Recovery support is available for those struggling with addiction at The Never Alone Recovery Hall (Hwy. 93, old Boys and Girls Club), every day of the week. The Never Alone Recovery Hall is a peer support dropin center. We are simply recovering people offering our experience, strength, and hope to our community members who are struggling with addiction issues. All groups and services are free. Please feel welcome to drop in and check us out.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays a noon meditation group is held and from 1-5 p.m. individual peer support is available.

Mondays a women’s support group takes place from 6-8 p.m.

Tuesdays there are recovery stories and videos heard from 6-8 p.m.

Wednesdays Narcotics Anonymous meets from 6-8 p.m.

Thursdays an early recovery skills groups meets from 6-8 p.m.

Fridays from 8-9 p.m. The Red Road to Recovery group meets.

Saturdays a co-dependent support group meets at 5 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. special events take place (events change).

Family movie night happens from 6-8 p.m. on Sundays.

Give food for fines at city court

POLSON — Polson City Court, (106 First Street, E), will hold their annual “Food for Fines” drive from Feb. 4 -28, Mondays-Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Defendants with existing fines may reduce the amount owed by donating non-perishable, non-expired food.

‘Love Lives Here’ founder to speak

POLSON — Rabbi Allen Secher, one of the founders of “Love Lives Here,” will speak on Sunday, March 3, at 11:15 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 409 Fourth Ave E. Rabbi Secher is a civil rights activist and one of the recipients of anti-Semitic action by a neo-Nazis group in 2016. He will discuss the reaction of communities to hate groups. All interested community members are welcome to attend.

Join Northwest Accordion Association jam/dance

POLSON — The Northwest Accordion Association’s community jam/dance will be held on March 3 from 2-5:00 p.m. at the Elks in Polson. There will be a variety of music, not just accordion music, to listen or dance to. You do not have to be an Elks or Accordion Association member to attend, sing or play. If you sing or play you don’t pay. Admission is $2 for members, $3 for non-members, and $5 to become a member of the association. Everyone is welcome, to play, sing, dance or just listen. Hear legislative update

Horsemen discuss Dutch oven cooking

RONAN — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will hold their next monthly meeting on March 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the VFW on Round Butte Road. This month’s program will be on Dutch oven cooking presented by Connie Long. Mack and Connie Long live in Charlo and own Bob Marshall Wilderness Outfitters. Lewings to discuss PPP history

POLSON — The Polson Kiwanis Club will meet on March 7 at noon downstairs at KwaTaq-Nuk Resort. Speakers will be our famous Neil and Karen Lewing from the Port Polson Players. The Lewings will discuss their three-decade plus history of putting on plays in the beautiful theater on Flathead Lake. In particular, they will talk about Port Polson’s contribution to the youth in the area. Many young people have grown up with the program and some of their children (and grandchildren) have also performed. The public is welcome to attend.

Sassy dames perform folk music

POLSON — Mission Valley Live presents Rosie and the Riveters, a fiercely talented group of sassy dames from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, who perform uplifting folk music with a vintage 1940s flair. They will perform at Polson High School in the auditorium on Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door, $13 in advance (available at First Interstate Bank and Perfect Shot Tavern in Polson and R & R Healthcare Solutions and Ronan True Value in Ronan). Transitional kindergarten registration held

ST. IGNATIUS — St. Ignatius School District is holding transitional kindergarten registration on Friday, March 8, from 8:15-11:45 a.m. and 1-2:15 p.m. You will need to make an appointment. Students must be 4 years old by Sept. 10, 2019. Please bring with you: the student, student’s birth certificate, student’s immunization record, proof of residency (copy of electric bill), Tribal enrollment information, and any applicable custody papers. Club to make baskets for Special Olympics’ auction

FINLEY POINT – The Montecahto Club will meet at the Finley Point Grill on Wednesday, March 13, at 1 p.m.

In addition to their regular agenda, club members will be making wine-and-cheese baskets to donate to the Special Olympics fundraising auction. The Montecahto Club welcomes new members. People’s Center holds classes, activities
