Library holds winter reading program through March 19
POLSON — Keep the winter blues away by escaping with a good book (or seven). The North Lake County Public Library is holding a winter reading program for adults and teens. You can stop into the library beginning Wednesday, Dec. 21, to pick up your Bingo-style reading log or print it from our Facebook page. Successfully complete seven squares on your winter Bingo card and then cards will be entered into a drawing in April. The winter reading program will run from Dec. 21-March 19. Masumola Club celebrates St. Patrick’s Day
POLSON — The Masumola Club meets on Thursday, March 9. The birds are singing in the trees and so should you. So please add the 9th to your social calendar. We gather at 5:40 p.m. with dinner to follow and a brief meeting thereafter. Hosts will provide corned beef and potatoes and carrots. It will be a St. Patrick’s Day theme. Please consider bringing Irish themed dishes. Suggested food distribution: A – H dessert; I – O salad or vegetable; P – Z hot dish.

Biostation director to talk about invasive species
POLSON — Tom Bansak, aquatic ecologist and Assistant Director at the Flathead Lake Biological Station, will speak at the Friday, March 10, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club beginning at noon at the Polson Rural Fire Department Building on Regatta Road. The title of his talk is “Shrimp, Salmon, Trout and Mussels: Invasive Seafood Chowder in Flathead Lake.”

CHARLO — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0-5 in the Charlo School Districts will be held on Monday, March 13, at Charlo School from 9 a.m.-noon. Learn tree care, maintenance
POLSON — Want to make sure your fruit trees, shade trees and conifers all thrive this year and every year? Jack Stivers, Montana State University Lake County Extension Agent, and Rick Jennison, arborist, will teach a free tree care and maintenance class through Polson Adult Education at Polson High School, room 104, on March 13, 14, 15 and 16 from 6-8 p.m. The class will deal with understanding what your trees need and what you can do to keep them healthy. PABLO — The Best Beginnings Children’s Partnership will meet on Tuesday, March 14, at the Mission Valley Power conference room. The meeting begins with a light breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The presentation at 9 a.m. will be Part One of the documentary series, “The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation.” The documentary interweaves discoveries from neuroscience with the stories of parents, caregivers and communities struggling to provide the nurturing environments all babies and young children need. Community picnic supports CFAC
RONAN — The Community Food and Agriculture Coalition seeks your support by coming to the 44 Bar and Outwest Grill for $2 Tuesdays on March 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. We’re hosting a Local Food for All - A Community picnic in May that supports local food access at farmers’ markets. Library hosts free Internet Basics class
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library will host a free Internet Basics class on Tuesday, March 21, at 2 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. in the library meeting room.
Library Specialist Heather Miles will present a basic overview of the Internet and how it works. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops or tablets to follow along. Mission holds kindergarten registration
ST. IGNATIUS — School District No. 28 is holding kindergarten registration on Tuesday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Student must be 5-years old by Sept. 10, 2017. Tribe to discuss invasive species
PABLO — The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Natural Resources Department will hold public education meetings about protecting the watershed from Aquatic Invasive Species, such as quagga and zebra mussels, at the SKC Theater, from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21.

Celebrate the Irish with Celtic coloring
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library will celebrate Irish culture with a Celtic-themed coloring program for adults and teens on Wednesday, March 22. Angela has planned for two sessions (2:30 and 5:30 pm). Local harpist, Debbie Conrad, will provide background music. Angela has some beautiful pages ready to color – all supplies are provided and the program is free and open to the public.
Ninepipes Museum holds ‘Volunteers Open House’
CHARLO -- In preparations for the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana opening for the 2017 season on Monday, April 3, there is a Volunteers’ Open House on Wednesday, March 22, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. There are fun opportunities for greeting the thousands of visitors from around the world that come through the museum’s doors each season. Volunteers can assist visitors in the gift shop or as docents in the museum, or help with maintenance and clerical duties for a few hours each week or each month.
