Childhood trauma issues presented
ST. IGNATIUS – Parents, teachers and community members are invited to a presentation on Thursday, April 23, at Mission Valley UMC, top of Post Creek Hill. A potluck meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation, “Understanding ACEs,” (understanding childhood trauma and its influence), will be made by Dana Eisenberg, LCSW, at 6 p.m. Local law enforcement will discuss drug use on the reservation at 7:15 p.m. This event is sponsored by Flathead Reservation Human Rights Coalition, Inc. Dayton plans kindergarten roundup
DAYTON — Kids who are ready for kindergarten and live in the Dayton area may come to the Dayton Kindergarten and Child Find on April 23. Children who are 5 years old on or before Sept. 10 are eligible for kindergarten. Parents or guardians should bring their child’s immunization records, birth certificate and Social Security card. Enjoy library story time
POLSON – North Lake County Library will host special one-hour programs for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m. The programs include stories, songs, movements, crafts and more. Explore Pacific Island birds right in Polson
POLSON — “Exploring Mountain Birds on Pacific Islands,” by Dr. Chris Filardi, will be the next Mission Mountain Audubon program on Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room.
Filardi’s slide presentation will discuss the role of contemporary ornithological expeditions focused on tropical island birds found in only one place and nowhere else in the world. Filardi is Director of Pacific Programs at the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation with the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
Save date for Kindergarten Round Up
RONAN — The Ronan School District No. 30 Kindergarten Round Up pre-registration for the 2015-16 school year will be held at the Ronan Middle School on Thursday, April 23, from 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. To be kindergarten eligible, a student must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 10, 2015. Bring their birth certificate and immunization record. Registering children will be screened in hearing, speech, vision and school readiness skills. Immunizations will be provided, as needed. Bring your child’s Healthy MT Kids/Medicaid or other health insurance card(s) if this service is required. Registration and screening takes about one hour, so plan accordingly.
