Free training offered on violence dynamics

POLSON — On April 27, at 6:30 p.m. Miracle of America’s Free Night at the Museum event will show the movie, “Harry’s War.” A postal worker quits his job to fight against the IRS who had unjustly treated his Aunt Beverly who owned a military surplus yard. Harry has to use a WWII halftrack (like the museum displays out front) to fight for justice. The museum displays some of the actual movie props. Come enjoy this “fourth Tuesday” event and enjoy a classic family movie with background discussion and a display tour of select items.

Big Arm Association hosts potluck, speaker
BIG ARM — The Big Arm Association will host a dessert potluck at the historic Big Arm School on Friday April 28 at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jim Simpson, Chairman of the Lake County Conservation District and retired forester. Jim will discuss the Swan Forest Initiative. This initiative is hoping to transfer management of 60,000 acres of forestlands in the Swan Valley to the State of Montana for 100 years. He will present both the pros and cons of this initiative. It promises to be an informative evening. Please come join us.
Final day to vote on quilters’ hangings, support senior center
Ronan — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild is doing a fundraiser for the Mission Valley Senior Center. They are hanging their Easter wall hangings there for people to vote, with money, on the best ones. The hanging that earns the most money becomes the winning hanging. The money goes to the senior center. You will be able to vote until April 28 and the center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Weaver to address Pachyderm Club
POLSON – Ronan Police Chief Kenneth J. Weaver is slated to be the guest speaker at the Friday, April 28, Pachyderm Club meeting. Weaver will address issues facing small law enforcement agencies, particularly the lack of officers. He will also speak about how the possible loss of Public Law 280 will affect the Ronan Police Department. Lake County Pachyderm meetings are held in the Polson Rural Fire Dept. building on Regatta Road from noon to 1 p.m. All are welcome.

Run with color
RONAN —Ronan High School Student Council will hold their 5K Color Run on Saturday, April 29. The cost is $10 (5 and under are free) and includes sunglasses and a headband. Registration will start at noon and the race will begin at 1 p.m. You may walk or run the course. It will start and end at Ronan High School parking lot. There will be color-splashing stations throughout the course.

POLSON — Please join Mission Valley Rises for our second, Non-Partisan Potluck for Democracy. We will meet on Sunday, April 30, from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Indian Senior Citizens Center, 701 First Street E. Our focus will be on Montana’s Special Election on May 25. We will meet with the candidates’ representatives, ask our questions, and share our ideas. We will also learn more about how, as individuals and in groups, we can be more effectively engaged in our democracy. POLSON — The Medicare 101 class is for anyone turning 65 this year. There are many decisions to make, deadlines to meet and penalties to avoid. Fort Connah depicts fur trade era

IGNATIUS — The Fort Connah Restoration Society will host their annual Spring Open House Rendezvous which depicts life during the fur trading era of Montana, on Saturday, May 6, to Wednesday, May 10; a 5-day event. This is a great opportunity to see the 1846 historic Hudson’s Bay Fort Connah Trading Post come to life. This event is free to the public and includes demonstrations of time-era activities, Moose Creek chuck wagon-style barbecue, a baked goods sale, beer and wine, crafts and kids games.
