Big Arm Association hosts potluck, speaker
BIG ARM — The Big Arm Association will host a dessert potluck at the historic Big Arm School on Friday April 28 at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jim Simpson, Chairman of the Lake County Conservation District and retired forester. Jim will discuss the Swan Forest Initiative. This initiative is hoping to transfer management of 60,000 acres of forestlands in the Swan Valley to the State of Montana for 100 years. He will present both the pros and cons of this initiative. It promises to be an informative evening. Please come join us.
Final day to vote on quilters’ hangings, support senior center
Ronan — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild is doing a fundraiser for the Mission Valley Senior Center. They are hanging their Easter wall hangings there for people to vote, with money, on the best ones. The hanging that earns the most money becomes the winning hanging. The money goes to the senior center. You will be able to vote until April 28 and the center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Infant, child CPR class offered
ST. IGNATIUS – The Parents as Teachers program of the Lake County Public Health Department is sponsoring an infant and child CPR class at The Nest on Friday, April 28, from 1-3 p.m. Ellen Kaphammer, RN, will teach CPR techniques and answer questions at this informal gathering. Space is limited, so participants must call 406-883-7209 to reserve a spot. The Nest is located at 410 St. Mary’s Drive in St. Ignatius. Weaver to address Pachyderm Club
POLSON – Ronan Police Chief Kenneth J. Weaver is slated to be the guest speaker at the Friday, April 28, Pachyderm Club meeting. Weaver will address issues facing small law enforcement agencies, particularly the lack of officers. He will also speak about how the possible loss of Public Law 280 will affect the Ronan Police Department. Lake County Pachyderm meetings are held in the Polson Rural Fire Dept. building on Regatta Road from noon to 1 p.m. All are welcome.
