POLSON — Join the CSKT Mussel Walk with local middle school students and community members and help us protect our water from aquatic invasive species on May 3 at Salish Point from 9-11 a.m. Rotate between four interactive information stations: mussel identification, a mussel-dog demonstration, aquatic invasive species life cycle questions and answers, and a mussel walk/shoreline cleanup. This is a joint effort of CSKT, UM Flathead Lake Bio Station, and the Flathead Lakers.

ST. IGNATIUS — Fort Connah’s annual “Spring Rendezvous” takes place on the weekend of May 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The open house is free to public and kid friendly. RONAN — The movie, “A Montana Legacy: The Melton Buffalo Ranch 1948-1962,” will be shown on Thursday, May 9, at the Ronan Senior Citizen’s Center, 528 Main SW, following the evening dinner. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. for a cost of $5. The screening is free.

With archival 8-mm silent film and interviews with the three surviving children of Ike and Villa Melton, as well as three cowboys who participated, the film paints a vivid picture of the family and life at the Whiskey Trail Ranch. The three surviving children, Nora Jean Malinak, LaRue Melton, Terry Melton, as well as Larry Christensen, Bud (Stan) Harris, Marlene Melton, Gary Abbey and Laurence Walchuck, reveal details of building corrals, sure footed horses, trucking buffalo and Villa’s National Bison Range experience.

The film was produced by Caribou Crossing, a local media partnership, and co-directed by Frank Tyro and Larry (Joe) Darlington. DVDs of the 56-minute program will be available at the screenings.

KALISPELL — Code Girls United is a non-profit with a mission to help girls become problem solvers through training with computer coding and business skills. We are in our third year of operation and we run a year-round, free, after-school program for girls in fourth to eighth grade. Our most important event is coming up in May. It’s the NW Regional App Challenge on May 11 and 12, at Flathead Valley Community College, Kalispell. This is a free, two-day event for girls in fourth to eighth grade, from all over our region. POLSON —The Polson Rotary Club will have its monthly open-social hour at the Perfect Shot on Main Street on Tuesday, May 14, at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in Rotary or good conversation is welcome. The club is considering sponsoring a satellite club that would meet in the mornings or evenings, at least twice a month.
