Join ‘Moving for Better Balance’
POLSON — Moving for Better Balance, an evidence-based, adapted Tai Chi class, will be offered by the Area VI Agency on Aging on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-11 a.m. for 12 weeks, May 1-July 19. Classes will be held at the Polson Senior Center. The fee is $35 for senior center members, $50 for non-members (they get a membership included), but everything is on a slidingscale. Empower Montana holds event for teens, parents, educators, community
ST. IGNATIUS — Empower Montana will hold an event for teens, parents, educators, and community entitled “Unboxing Gender Teach In.” Polson Police Sergeant George Simpson will give a presentation on consent, sexual assault laws and other important information to complete the evening. This event takes place from 5-8 p.m. on May 15, at Mission Valley United Methodist Church, 70715 Highway 93. There will be pizza and door prizes. Learn about ‘Flipster,’ ‘Freegal’
POLSON — The North Lake County Public Library presents free twice monthly computer classes. This program of courses can provide you with computer and technology basics. On May 15, at 2 p.m. learn about “Flipster and Freegal.” “Flipster” is a digital magazine that makes it easy for you to read your favorite magazines on your computer or mobile device. “Freegal Music” is a free music service that is provided to you by your participating public library. Essiac Study Group meets

Join the community dance
POLSON – Calling all of you who love classic country music to come and join us at our next dance from 7-10 p.m., on Wednesday, May 16, at the Elks on Main Street. The band also plays music from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. If you like hamburgers, the Elks put out a pretty good one before the dance. Cost of the dance is $5 per person. Come and enjoy yourselves.

Paint rocks for Polson Painted Rock Project
POLSON —The Polson Painted Rock project is off to a fantastic start. There have been approximately 80 rocks distributed, with one making it all the way to Safeco Field. We will be hosting another Open Rock Painting Party at the Chamber Office on May 16, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Keep your eye out for our rocks, and let us know where you find them. Fundraiser planned for Carlos Rodriques
POLSON – A fundraiser to benefit Polson community member Carlos Rodriques will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Polson Elks Club on Main Street. Carlos became suddenly ill and has been hospitalized since early March with an autoimmune affliction that has compromised his nervous system, leaving him paralyzed. In addition to the fundraiser at the Elks Club, two other online fundraisers through GoFundMe and CaringBridge have been set up to help pay for his medical costs. For more information call 676-0170.

Support Grizzly scholarships
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Chapter Grizzly Scholarship Association will hold their “Golf for the Griz Memorial Tournament” with an 11 a.m. shotgun start on May 18 at the Mission Mountain Golf Course. Golf fees, dinner and prizes are $80 per person for non-pass holders and $70 per person for pass holders. These prices do not include carts. Dinner served at 4 p.m. is $25 for dinner only. Even if you don’t golf, come socialize with coaches, athletic department representatives and fellow Griz fans. Attend first ‘Show n’ Shine’ event
ARLEE — The first annual Jocko Valley “Show n’ Shine” car event will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on May 19 at The Merc on 93, 92661 Highway 93. This event is in conjunction with the “Junkin the Jocko Market.” Registration is from 9-10 a.m. and judging is at noon. Pre-registration (due May 16) is $5 and day-of-event registration is $10. All proceeds benefit the Arlee Youth Connection whose mission is to cultivate physical and mental health for youth with drug and alcohol free activities in a safe environment. Cherry Blossom Festival celebrated
YELLOW BAY – The 15th annual Yellow Bay Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at the Yellow Bay Community Clubhouse. The clubhouse is located on Montana Hwy. 35 at mile marker 18. The festival is free and open to the public. This year’s event includes artisans and crafters offering an array of locally produced and hand-crafted items. Live music, free door prizes and lunch items for a nominal fee are also planned. The festival is a major fundraiser for the Yellow Bay Community Club. Proceeds help fund various charitable projects selected by the club, as well as maintenance of the 75-year-old clubhouse, home to potlucks, receptions, private celebrations, and cherry growers’ meetings. Learn about hearing health, financial help
RONAN — Did you know that one in three people at the age of 65 have some degree of hearing loss? At 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, at the Ronan Senior Center, Kim Van De Riet from the Hearing Aid Institute and Dara from the Council on Aging will present an education program on hearing health and financial help programs. We will explain all aspects of your hearing. The Council on Aging know finances can be tight. Mussel infestation discussed at Pachyderm meeting
POLSON — On Friday, May 25, from noon-1 p.m. Pachyderms will host Tom McDonald, manager of Fish, Wildlife & Recreation and Conservation Department for the Salish & Kootenai Tribe. He will give an update on the efforts to control the mussel infestation in Montana lakes. He will raise awareness on how citizens or volunteers can play a part in protecting Flathead Lake. The group will meet at the Polson Rural Fire Station off Regatta Road.
