Join ‘Moving for Better Balance’
POLSON — Moving for Better Balance, an evidence-based, adapted Tai Chi class, will be offered by the Area VI Agency on Aging on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-11 a.m. for 12 weeks, May 1-July 19. Cleanup in Polson
POLSON — On Friday through Sunday, May 4-6, Polson will hold their annual “Clean Up! Green Up!” event. On Friday go the North Lake County Library Atrium Room at 2 First Ave. E from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. to pick up trash bags, gloves and assignment area for cleanup. Refreshments will be available there also. Shred Day will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Glacier Bank, 50510 Highway 93. Two boxes per person are allowed. City of Polson Curbside Pick Up will also take place on Friday, May 4. Have your leaves and branches on the curb by 8 a.m. for “free” pickup. No garbage please.

Two-day yard sale held in Proctor
PROCTOR — The Proctor Teacherage will hold a yard sale on Friday, May 4, from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday, May 5, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be lots of household items, small furniture, home decor, infant/ youth clothing, adult clothing and much, much more. All proceeds go towards two local non-profit organizations. The Proctor Teacherage is located north of Dayton, off of Lake Mary Ronan Road.
'UnVariety Show' raises funds for SKC, embraces diversity
POLSON — A bigger, better, and certainly more amazing UnVariety Show 2.0 is heading to Polson on Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. Last year’s event drew more than 200 participants who watched a range of unforgettable performers and then capped the night with a karaoke marathon. Co-hosted by the Salish Kootenai College Spirit of Many Colors, SAFE Harbor and ACLU Montana, it is a night to embrace diversity, celebrate individuality and share in a high level of laughter. This is a night to promote human rights and to embrace “everyone’s value.” The event is also a fundraiser for scholarships at Salish Kootenai College and everyone is welcome. ‘Hammer-In’ all day at MOAM

First day of Fort Connah Spring Open House held

IGNATIUS — The Fort Connah Restoration Society will host their annual Spring Open House Rendezvous, which depicts life during the fur trading era of Montana, on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and on May 6 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This is a great opportunity to see the 1847 historic Hudson’s Bay Fort Connah Trading Post come to life. Audubon field trip offered
MISSION VALLEY — Flathead Audubon is offering a field trip with Janene Lichtenerg on May 6, from 7:30 a.m.-noon. Of particular interest is the long-billed Curlew. The group will meet north of Polson to explore some of the grassland habitats where we are likely to hear and see curlews. The trip will finish with a short walk at The Nature Conservancy’s Safe Harbor Marsh and Important Bird Area. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water and snacks. Horsemen ride again
DAYTON — Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen’s 37th annual Steak Ride will take place on Sunday, May 6, at the Meuli Ranch in Dayton. PABLO — Lake County Democrats and Republican women will co-host a non-partisan judicial candidate forum for the position of District Judge. Polson Chamber holds ‘Meet and Greet’ event

Performance dates changed
POLSON — Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the Polson High Theatre Production Club’s performance of “Reality Stars: Greek Gods Edition” have been rescheduled to Thursday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m. and on Friday, May 11, at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for students and $7 for adults. The Spanish Club will serve a spaghetti dinner prior to the play each evening from 5-6:30 p.m. for $5 per person or $20 for a family.

POLSON – Free gifts. Who doesn’t want a little present? The Lake County Parents as Teachers May Community Connection is all about gifts – for a mom or another special someone in your life, and for you, just for attending. It is happening at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 11 at the Lake County Health Department, 801 Main Street in Polson. We have a couple of craft ideas for the young ones to create, either “all by myself ” or with your help, and a yummy no-sugar, no-bake treat that we are going to put together with everyone’s help. Pregnant moms and families with children under the age of five are welcome to attend the Parents as Teachers Community Connections. This is a good chance to meet other families with young children, and to learn more about the Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program. We’ll have a drawing for a door prize, and if you bring a friend, you are guaranteed a gift as well. Paint rocks for Polson Painted Rock Project

Fundraiser planned for Carlos Rodriques
POLSON – A fundraiser to benefit Polson community member Carlos Rodriques will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Polson Elks Club on Main Street. Carlos became suddenly ill and has been hospitalized since early March with an autoimmune affliction that has compromised his nervous system, leaving him paralyzed. In addition to the fundraiser at the Elks Club, two other online fundraisers through GoFundMe and CaringBridge have been set up to help pay for his medical costs. For more information call 676-0170.

RONAN — The Mission Mountain Chapter Grizzly Scholarship Association will hold their “Golf for the Griz Memorial Tournament” with an 11 a.m. shotgun start on May 18 at the Mission Mountain Golf Course. Golf fees, dinner and prizes are $80 per person for non-pass holders and $70 per person for pass holders. These prices do not include carts. Dinner served at 4 p.m. is $25 for dinner only. Even if you don’t golf, come socialize with coaches, athletic department representatives and fellow Griz fans.
