View ‘The Joy of Friendship’ exhibit through May 12
POLSON — The Sandpiper Gallery will exhibit “The Joy of Friendship,” a mixed media artwork show from April 10-May 12. Arneson to share artwork at Ninepipes Museum
CHARLO – The Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana has scheduled six wonderful artists for the 2017 “First Saturday” exhibits and receptions, May through October. The artist featured on Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. is watercolorist Susan Arneson from Polson.
Fort Connah depicts fur trade era
ST. IGNATIUS — The Fort Connah Restoration Society will host their annual Spring Open House Rendezvous which depicts life during the fur trading era of Montana, on Saturday, May 6, to Wednesday, May 10; a 5-day event. This is a great opportunity to see the 1846 historic Hudson’s Bay Fort Connah Trading Post come to life. This event is free to the public and includes demonstrations of time-era activities, Moose Creek chuck wagon-style barbecue, a baked goods sale, beer and wine, crafts and kids games. There will be historical talks after the opening ceremony at noon on Saturday. Main events will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Fort Connah is located 6 miles north of St. Ignatius at mile marker 39 on Highway 93. IGNATIUS — The Flathead Reservation Human Rights Coalition’s annual potluck series – Nourish Your Body, Nourish Your Mind will come together on Wednesday, May 10, at 6 p.m. at Mission Valley United Methodist Church, 70715 Highway 93, at the top of Post Creek Hill. Bridget Kevane will present Latino America, Latino Montana. She will lead us through our state’s Latino history, which began even before 1889 and about the more recently arrived community of Latinos in the state.

POLSON — The Masumola Club’s next meeting is Thursday, May 11. Hosts Christine and Gary Pitts say in May it’s time to do our share to beautify America. We will combine our obligation to police Rocky Point Road with our May meeting. Those who can, please come to the Masumola Clubhouse at 3:45 p.m. to get bags, vests etc. Bring your own gloves. People are also welcome to clean the kitchen etc. if they prefer. Hosts will provide appetizers and beer for people as they finish. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we can do that part outside. Hosts will also provide burgers and condiments for the dinner. Suggested food distribution for dinner is: A – H: salad or veggie; I – O hot dish; P – Z dessert. If you can’t come at 3:45 p.m., please come anyway. Annual Spring Powwow and Graduation Honoring
Salish Kootenai College will be hosting their Annual Spring Powwow and Graduation Honoring on May 12 and 13 with Grand Entries starting at 7 p.m., Friday night and continuing Saturday at 1 and 7 p.m. in the Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center in Pablo, Montana. Contest dancing is slated to begin Friday and includes Junior, Teen and Adult categories, as well as Golden Age. Drum pay is tentatively set for the first 10 registered drums, with dance specials to be announced. There will be concessions, vendors and raffles with all proceeds going to helping with the powwow. Community picnic includes art, music, auction
POLSON — Please join the Community Food and Agriculture Coalition, Polson Farmers Market, and the Lake County Council on Aging at Farm Road for Local Food for All: A Community Picnic on Saturday, May 13, from 1-6 p.m. The picnic will feature a pop-up art show, a taste of local fare, music, vendors, and a silent auction. Proceeds will increase food access to all at farmers’ markets in the Mission Valley and support the Double SNAP Dollar program. Plated dinner will be served from 3-4 p.m. and local beer will be available. Individual tickets are $20 and a family of four ticket is $75. The event will take place at 35060 Mud Lake Trail.
