Awards given out at Kiwanis Club meeting
POLSON — Polson Kiwanis Club will meet on Thursday, June 6, at noon, downstairs in the Koostatah Room at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. Robbie Hayes will speak on behalf of Special Olympics and receive an award from Kiwanis. Kiwanis will also present an award to Helping Hands and Tillie Marshall will tell about the progress on its projects, including the successful “Baby Boxes” given to new mothers in local Lake County hospitals. These boxes have been instrumental in lowering infant mortality rates. Shea McGuinness will receive a Polson Key Club scholarship. Kiwanis Club will also be organizing committees for its upcoming fundraiser, the second annual Wine and Beer Festival, to take place on Friday, June 21, at the KOA campground. The public is welcome to attend.

Summer program at Boys and Girls Club begins
LAKE COUNTY — The Flathead Reservation and Lake County Boys and Girls Club in Ronan will operate a summer program Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. from June 10-Aug. 16 (closed July 4). The cost is $20 per week or $150 for the full summer. The summer session is 10 weeks of fun – opportunities for discovery, learning, and activities galore. Great outdoors program created for young children
BIGFORK — Flathead Fledglings – This one hour program designed for children ages 4-7 gives kids a chance to get outside and learn about the great outdoors. This is the first in a five-part series, although participants need not attend all five. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. The cost is $4 per child and takes place at the Wayfarers Unit – Harry Horn picnic shelter.

Montana Senior Olympic Games held in Missoula
MISSOULA — The 34th annual Montana Senior Olympic Games will be held in Missoula on June 13-15, 2019. This involves competition in 14 different sports for men and women who are 50 years of age and older as of Dec. 31, 2019. The sports include: archery, bowling, badminton, cycling, basketball, golf, horseshoes, pickle ball, race-walk, tennis, table tennis, road race, swimming and track & field. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded.
