Multiple genres shown at new exhibit through Oct. 13
POLSON — Sandpiper Art Gallery, 306 Main Street, Polson, presents “Making It Up as I Go.” This exhibit will definitely capture your imagination. It features artists Nancy Miler (painter), Donna Winn (3D mixed media), Nancy Zadra (impressionist/ abstract painter), Gerald Garcelone (woodwork), Susan Evans (3D mixed media), Carol Rae (jewelry), and Sue Ball (lino-prints). The exhibit will run from Sept. 4 until Oct. 13. Artists reception for this exhibit is on Sept. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Gallery.
Bring a friend to ‘Fifth Friday Dinner’
POLSON — The “Fifth Friday Dinner” will be held on Sept. 29 at Polson Community Church, 1814 First Street E, from 4:30- 6:30 p.m. This event is free as always. Beef stew, corn bread and desserts galore will be served. Be sure to bring a friend.
Church preschool fundraiser held
POLSON — Good Shepherd’s Little Friends Preschool will have a fundraiser yard sale on Friday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m.-1p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m.-noon. The fundraiser will take place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 406 Fourth Ave. E.
Four different illusionist shows presented
PABLO — The Church of the Nazarene, 43653 Old Highway 93, is hosting illusionist and evangelist Scott Humston on Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m.; on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m.; and on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Each time is a different show. Ninepipes Museum puts on ‘Chili, Brew and Blues’
CHARLO – Mark your calendars for a fun evening at Leon Hall from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, when Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana holds its third annual Chili, Brew and Blues event at the Leon Community Hall. There will be chili and cornbread from Famous Dave’s starting at 5 p.m. and KC and the Valley Cats will provide lively music from 7-9 p.m. Chili and music costs $15 per person, and music only is $10 per person. Republican Women to meet at LCCDC
RONAN — The Lake County Republican Women’s Club will meet at noon on Monday, Oct. 2, at the Lake County Community Development Corporation, 407 Main, in Ronan. LCCDC Director Gypsy Ray will give a presentation on what LCCDC does to encourage new businesses in Lake County, especially food and agriculture enterprises. She will then lead a tour of the Mission Mountain Enterprise Center, Montana’s only inspected food hub. Anyone interested in learning about the many ways LCCDC supports entrepreneurship and the economies of Lake, Mineral and Sanders Counties is cordially invited to attend.

Quilters to meet
RONAN — The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold their regular meeting at the Terrace Lake Community Church in Ronan on Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. Marina Cheff will do a 15-minute demonstration on getting your quilt-top ready for the quilter. Please remember your survey sheets and any show and tell you have. Refreshments will be provided by the Thursday Quilters and information will be handed out for the Oct. 21 class. Polson superintendent to address chamber

Gallery presents work of renowned artist through Nov. 11
POLSON — Takes Horse Gallery, 49487 US Highway 93, is proud to present “Art in Autumn,” an exhibition featuring the work of renowned artist John Gawne. A member of the CM Russell Museum’s elite Skull Society, John Gawne’s paintings of the western landscape and Native Americans are shown in some of the most prestigious galleries in the country. This is a unique opportunity see his work, as well as paintings by some of Montana’s and the Northwest’s best artists: John Gawne, David Dragonfly, DG House, Tabby Ivy, John Pepion, Rachel Warner and Shannon Webster. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, from 4-8 p.m. The exhibition will run from Oct. 6-Nov. 11.

POLSON — North Lake County Public Library is offering a free class on Ancestry. com and HeritageQuest on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room. The class will cover the basics of these genealogy databases, both of which are made available to the public by the library. Learn about water and microbes
POLSON — “Water and microbes: The tiny engines that keep the world habitable” by Dr. Matthew Church will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s next program on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome. Matt’s talk will explore how we study aquatic microbes and describe some of what we’ve learned about the roles of these tiny organisms in controlling ecosystem health. Dr. Matthew Church is a professor of aquatic microbial ecology at the University of Montana’s Flathead Lake Biological Station.
