Workers at COA dinner appreciated

RONAN — Sorry that the column didn’t get in the papers last week. I’d like to blame it on the computer, but I really can’t. I guess that I am going to have to start paying attention to what buttons I punch. Thanks to all who worked so hard on the Council on Aging’s dinner and...

Winter birds return to feeders

DIXON — It’s turned into a lovely, long fall; just what I’d hoped for. I’m still planting spring bulbs, knowing how welcome they will be after winter’s sleep. Winter birds, such as Steller’s Jays, are returning to the birdfeeders; and of course, the trees are in their f...

ST. IGNATIUS —The St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center encouraged those coming to lunch on Tuesday, Oct. 23, to wear pink for “Pink for Cancer Day.” Donations to fight cancer were accepted. There will be no meal on Wednesday, Oct. 31, and pinochle is on Oct. 29 rather than the Oct. 31. ...

Autumn brings many happy circumstances

DIXON — Happy autumn everybody. Some things I like about fall are the colored leaves, re-energized flowers (my spring primroses are back), vegetable harvest (a bumper crop of volunteer squash), no more mosquitoes, and the days are usually cooler. Also, the smoke is bound to go. But, there’s also ...

RONAN — Have you noticed all of the changing colors of the trees? And what a pretty blue sky we had on Sunday. Hopefully, the smoke will stay gone. Flu shots will be given on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 1-3 p.m. If you are on Medicare, bring  your cards. If you are not on Medicare, you have to pay...

Time flies, Christmas is looming

RONAN — Where has the year gone? When it flies by so fast, does that mean that we are too busy and should slow down? Well, that won’t happen this time of year with Christmas looming in the not to distant future. We will be starting BINGO up again on Friday, Oct. 5 following the noon meal. This...
