New year begins with busy schedule

POLSON — Hello everybody; It’s been awhile since I’ve written. I hope your holidays were wonderful and you were well and able to enjoy your families and friends. The veterans’ aide will be here on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m.  This is the latest from Missoula and I hope the appointment won’t be cancelled again. You might want to give us a call that morning to make sure they will be here before you set out on these roads. Our number is (406) 883-4735. We would like to thank the Lakes for their donation of potatoes to our nutrition program. Their generosity is very much appreciated. There are a few things coming up that need mentioning. Commodities ...

Montana weather preferred

RONAN — Well here we are, halfway through January and it’s snowing, the wind is blowing and the temperature has dropped. All of that sure beats floods, tornadoes and hurricanes. So, I guess we still live in a great place. We had 49 people brave the weather last Thursday to attend our evening m...

Summer warmth seems far away

RONAN  — Brrr- It’s cold out there. Wouldn’t it be nice to have some of last summer’s heat? Now that the holidays are over, we can all get back to our regular schedules. Our yearly dues are now due and they are $10 per person. Don’t forget our chicken dinner will be t...

Mild wintry weather deceptive

DIXON — With this unexpected mild winter weather (the roads are clear, just a skiff of snow and some piles around), it almost seems like spring is approaching. I know better, though. The multitudes of birds are at my feeder as though this is their only hope for survival. I love seeing bunnies hopping a...

Quilt winner named

RONAN — Happy New Year and may we all be blessed with a happy and healthy new year. I hope that it doesn’t go as fast as the last two. I don’t mind getting older, I just don’t want it to happen so fast. Congratulations to Ambree Blixt on winning our raffle quilt. Thanks to all who ...

Seed catalog inspires until spring

DIXON — A very happy 2013 to us all. Doesn’t it appear that New Year’s comes around more often these years? It seems like a long stretch until spring. Some of us received a Gurneys seed catalog before Christmas, so we have some inspirational reading. Congratulations to Joyce and Don Sier...

Imagine: 2013 just around the corner

RONAN — Welcome to December. Just think, in less than a month we will be into 2013. I am sure that you are, with the rest of us, wondering where the year has gone. Thanks to all of our volunteers. We couldn’t get everything done around here with out your help. We have hired a new cook to he...

Christmas party games on tap at Dixon center

DIXON — December is upon us; how quickly it came this year. There are many activities to enjoy this time of year; I just hope we can get transportation to enjoy some of them. One social event will be the Dixon Senior Center annual Christmas party after lunch, about 1 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 13. Bring a...
