Debbie graduated from Polson High School. She married Steve Statham in August 1982 and they moved to Everett, Wash. where she worked for ELDEC Corporation as a purchasing agent. They had two children, Kristen and Steven. Debbie returned home to Polson in 1998 following the end of the marriage. She went to work for Salish Kootenai College in enrollment records.
