Letters to the Editor
Editor, This is a letter of thanks to a great coach. I was disheartened to hear that Coach Love has stepped down as coach of the mighty Charlo Vikings football team. I will miss seeing you walk up and down the side line; sometimes jumping for joy at a great play and other times hanging your head for a play gone wrong. It is easy to see that you love the game and that you always strive to win; putting in the best players and taking the heat from parents when they don’t agree with the call. I can say as a parent of a player, that I fully support the calls you make and stand behind you and the other coaches. Your enthusiasm is contagious and Friday nights in Charlo will not be t...
Editor, In the past few months, the American public has been deeply disappointed by the people who have been celebrated in one way or another as icons or at least as respectable citizens. One of those so called respectable people campaigned for our nation’s highest political office. Even during the ...
Editor, Lake County will soon have an amazing resource available to all who live here — if we all get behind it. It's a large, indoor aquatics center on the hill across from Safeway in Polson. Have you noticed the future home sign? I did. I called the number on the sign and joined the group of local...
Editor, After many years of planning, the new Rural Fire District station north of the bridge has been completed. This new station will eventually guarantee fire protection to the residents who live north of Polson in the event the bridge is out of commission and will provide housing for the growing fleet...

Editor, This is a letter I wrote last year. As this issue of a health care solution seems less likely to become a reality, I think the triangulation theory looks better and better. In watching the American debate on health care, I am struck by our collective inability to solve a problem which shouldn't...
Editor, From pancake breakfast to spaghetti dinner, day camp to weekend work retreat, and fitness walk/run to softball tournament, people of Lake and Sanders Counties generously volunteered their time, talent and dollars to benefit many individuals and non-profit organizations in our communities this past...
Editor, I am writing this letter in response to the Dec. 24, 2009 article in the Leader titled Fire station ready. It seems that Trustee Nelson and Chief Fairchild have forgotten why the new fire station was built north of the bridge. During numerous Rural Fire District trustee meetings which I attende...
Editor, I would like to thank the group "Calling All Conservatives" for the great event they put on Tuesday evening at the Ronan Community Center. The crowd was large (I'm sure at least 300), enthusiastic, and very polite. Regardless of your political affiliation, there were very informative speakers a...
