Mardi Gras fundraiser gives club financial boost

Editor, The past few days of bright sunshine have been sheer delight to our community, especially after a long siege of rather gloomy weather. The Boys & Girls Club board of directors would like to share another bright spot with everyone.  The past year and a half has been turbulent to say the least and the outlook for the economy and jobs hasn’t been all that promising.  For that reason the board and staff at the Boys & Girls Club are especially grateful to the community for their generous support of our latest fund raising effort, Mardi Gras Montana. Your support for a local non-profit is a needed and tremendous boost for our youth-centered efforts.  ...

President's words display hate

Editor, I can't get it out of my head — Barak Obama saying to John McCain at the February 25 Health Care Summit, “The campaign is over.” Could the President have said anything less gracious or more hateful? I don't think so. Carol Cummings Polson

FCA raises funds to help local kids

Editor, What do Duford Tires, G&M Auto Repairs, Zimmerman Fishing Tackle, Wrap Shack, Cove Deli, Polson Bay Grocery, and Polson’s Town Pump all have in common? They all care about kids.  Polson High School’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) club would like to pass out a heart...

We must unite for survival

Editor, As President of the Lake County Republican Women’s Club, I have tried to plug into the different conservative groups that threaten to divide a united effort to overcome the socialist juggernaut in control in Washington. There is far more that unites us than divides us. Historically, conse...

Trash stains Jocko Valley

Editor, The last couple days we've spent a few hours in our quest to clean the highway in the Jocko Valley. Wow, someone's trash must have flown out of the back of their truck. Only the bag broke and it was blown all over and we picked it up one piece at a time. Let's see, only three diapers thrown out th...

The Agreement will ensure that the Flathead is protected from mining and energy development, thereby enabling pre...

Quarry work benefits the shoreline

Editor, As a non-tribal member I am (I hope) making a respectful reply to Amlu Caye's letter, per the Chief Cliff "mine." This letter is also directed to others of our local tribes members. No disrespect is intended by me for my lack understanding of tribal lore or beliefs. Amlu, having read your lette...

Good luck Ann Brower

Editor, Thank you, Ann Brower, for speaking at our potluck on Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Valley View Clubhouse. You were very informative and seem to know your issues very well. Any other clubs out there should have her come and speak at your meetings or potlucks.  Good Luck Ann campaigning for Lake ...

New fire station is not a warehouse

Editor, I feel compelled to respond to the recent discussions regarding the new Polson Rural Fire Station, as there is much misinformation being spread. It has been stated that the new station is a warehouse and not an “active” station, both of which are false. To start with, a few facts ab...

Education is a form of patriotism

Editor, As the co-organizer of the April 2009 TEA Party held at Riverside Park I feel that I must respond to a mischaracterization of such TEA Parties put forth in last week’s letter to the editor from Tammy Miller of St. Ignatius. In the letter, Ms. Miller quotes Travis McAdam, executive directo...
