Trio of Warriors earns divisional crowns in Deer Lodge

DEER LODGE — Three of the six Arlee Warriors making the trip to the state finals this weekend will be doing it as divisional champions. Two of the champions have unfinished business in Billings, and one will be going for the first time. The Warriors went 3-1 in the Western B-C Divisional final matches in Deer Lodge Saturday to help Arlee secure fourth place with 128 points, just 14 behind the divisional-winning Bluehawks. Cole Rice, the Warriors 140-pound junior, entered the tournament undefeated against his 140-pound divisional opponents and continued his dominance in the conference with three pins – two of which came in the first period – to capture his second stra...

THOMPSON FALLS — Two Warrior grapplers captured gold at the Ted Kato Memorial Tournament to help Arlee place fourth in the 13-team field. Warriors hit speed bump in Lincoln

LINCOLN — If the Warriors thought getting back to the divisional tournament was going to be easy, they got a wake-up call in Lincoln Saturday. Scarlets stymie St. Regis to stop skid

LINCOLN — With a relentless style of defense, the Scarlets’ success can be measured by how much they get under their opponent’s skin —consider Friday night a success. The Scarlets stopped a five-game losing streak by completely frustrating the St. Regis Tigers, limiting their scori...

Warrior’s Rice reigns in Choteau, Rubel takes 5th

CHOTEAU — With most the Class B-C teams competing at the Choteau Classic, the two-day tournament is a preview of what’s to come at the state tournament – if that’s the case, expect big things from Warrior 140-pounder Cole Rice in Billings this year. The Arlee junior cruised through...

Scarlets scuffle on long road trip

NOXON — The Scarlets played their best game of the season and one of their worst games of the season on a two-game road trip last week, but came up with losses in both. After playing what their coach Richard Bachmeier called their best game of the season in a 42-32 nonconference loss to the Lady Bla...

Road warriors

NOXON — Even traveling 375 miles in two nights couldn’t slow down the Warriors. On a two-game road swing they had different players step up each night, to come away with a pair of victories and remain perfect on the year. In a 53-45 nonconference victory against Seeley-Swan Friday it was Kyle ...

Warriors tame Savage Heat at foul line

ARLEE — The Warriors remained cool under pressure and hit clutch free throws down the stretch against Hot Springs to remain perfect on the season. In their first close game of the season, the Warriors were trailing the Savage Heat in the fourth quarter, but went 12-for-16 at the foul line in the fin...

Scarlets fall to district powerhouses

ARLEE — The Arlee Scarlets turned the ball over too many times and didn’t shoot well enough to beat the two toughest teams in District 14-C last week. In the Scarlets 46-14 loss to the Lady Vikings in Charlo Thursday and their 41-29 loss to the Savage Heat at home Saturday they turned the ball...
