Lady Pirates win 7 events at Whitefish track meet, Pirates battle through injuries

It was a busy, weather-impacted week of track for the Polson squad, but the thinclads made the most of it, though short-handed on the boys’ side. Polson sent athletes to Tuesday’s Top 10 Invitational in Missoula on Tuesday, then they competed in Saturday’s A.R.M. track and field meet in Whitefish. Polson’s girls continue to look tougher and tougher every week, placing second at the Whitefish A.R.M. and doing well in the Top 10. Polson’s boys, however, are trying to fill holes of key competitors who are out with injuries. Polson sent eight girls to the Top 10 and all eight placed in their events.  Nicole Davey won the pole vault by clearing 10 feet...

Blixt, Shima team up for number one doubles win for Ronan

Despite the rough weather, the Ronan tennis team got in two conference duals last week, though the competition was a bit rough, too. On Friday at home, the Ronan boys lost to Columbia Falls 6-1 and Ronan’s girls’ squad also lost 6-1.  Jeff Blixt and Hunter Shima put together a 6-4, 6-2...

Lady Pirates win five, narrowly drop one to Maroons

The undefeated season may be out of consideration, but Polson's Lady Pirate softball team sent a strong message that it remains a contender. he Polson tennis team played just one match last week, but made the most of it. On Thursday in Ronan, Polson's girls swept Ronan and Polson's boys almost did the same. Making their mark

The Polson track team passed an early season test against some of the biggest and best track and field teams in the region at last Saturday's Missoula County Public Schools Invitational. The event is so big — it attracts 17 teams, including six Class AA teams and two from out of state — that it p...

Not so pretty win

POLSON — Timely hitting made up for a string of untimely errors committed by the Polson Lady Pirates last Thursday.  Polson's six errors could have proved much more costly, but in the end Hamilton's Lady Broncs scored just one run in the fifth inning. And the Lady Pirates made up for it with th...

Polson girls win, boys place second at Columbia Falls Invitational

COLUMBIA FALLS — It's early in the season but it's never too early to win a track meet.  The Polson Lady Pirates were clearly setting the bar high last Saturday as they posted 134 points to win the Columbia Falls Invitational Track Meet last Saturday. Their point total almost doubled second-lac...

Polson finally opens tennis season with spurt of four duals

POLSON — It was cold but there weren't many complaints from the Polson tennis players as they officially opened their season last week. Heck, they were just glad to be playing some competition. "It was a great first weekend for the kids. Cold weather was the only negative," Polson head coach Bob His...
