Orange and Black Attack fight back at ASA championship

BUTTE — The Ronan Orange and Black Attack rallied back from an opening loss to make a name for themselves at the 2010 Montana ASA State Championship in Butte this weekend. Absent from last year’s state tournament, the 12U team wanted to make it clear that Ronan was a softball town by winning three games Saturday and just missing out on making it to the final day of the tournament by a single run. The Attack recovered from an opening 9-5 loss to the Bitterroot Sparks by beating the Great Falls Select Gold, a team that Ronan coach Allen Smith said expected to just walk through the Attack to the next round, 6-5, early Saturday morning. In their only easy game of the tournamen...

Maidens end season with a bang

Maidens come up a run short against Whitefish

BUTTE — The Maidens lost another close came after their last-at-bat rally fell one run short against Whitefish in Butte Saturday. In the makeup game against the Lady Bulldogs, the Maidens were trying to erase a four-run deficit in the seventh, but their rally was cut short, when Payge Delaurenti was...

Maidens suffer pair of extra-inning losses

Maidens have bittersweet trip down the Bitterroot

HAMILTON — With a young, inexperienced team, the Ronan softball coach knew the season would be filled with ups and downs – he just didn’t know they would come in one day. On a trip down the Bitterroot Saturday, Ronan coach Tom Peterson watched his team start doing the little things it ta...

Errors, cold hitting cost Maidens in rivalry game

POLSON — It was the same old song and dance for the Maidens in Polson Tuesday, April 20. Silent bats and defensive miscues, something that have plagued the young Ronan squad during a four-game skid, reared their ugly heads again in a 9-1 loss to the Lady Pirates. The Maidens were limited to only ...
