Montana Veterans matter to me, so much, in fact, that I embarked on a walking journey across our country that took 178 days and covered more than 3,400 miles. I walked all those days and miles to raise awareness for veteran issues such as suicide prevention, and to raise money for programs that support our wounded and disabled Veterans and their families.

As someone who has devoted a lot of time and effort into veteran issues, I want someone that will represent Montana veterans. I want someone that won’t give lip service to Veteran issues and walk away when the going gets tough. Ryan Zinke served for 23 years as a Navy SEAL and I believe that he will not only talk the talk, he will also walk the walk once elected.

In his recent Veteran’s Plan, I was pleased to discover that Zinke specifically addresses suicide awareness. Zinke knows the statistics and understands that we have lost more active duty military to suicide than we have lost in combat since 2005. When you combine that with the recent VA boondoggle, it is clear that we need someone who will be a leader on veterans’ issues and put politics aside to keep the promises our government made to the men and women who have served our country honorably, faithfully and with dedication and commitment.

It is said that most folks can stand for something. And while a “brave” person might tell you what he/she stands for, it’s the person of “courage” that will show you. Ryan Zinke is that person of courage … I am counting on Zinke to do that in Congress, and I urge others to join me in supporting a fellow veteran and warrior to be our next U.S. Representative.
