Valley Teams compete at Mountain West Meet

MISSOULA – The sun was shining Saturday as cross-country teams from the valley met teams from all over Montana as well as Washington and Idaho to race three miles on the University of Montana golf course in Missoula.

Of the valley teams, Polson and Ronan were the only two that qualified full teams, with Arlee, Charlo, and Mission entering individual runners.

Polson girls placed 26th out of the 44 teams with a total score of 727 while Ronan placed 44th scoring 1,251 overall.

For the boys Ronan fared the best, placing 41st with a finishing team score of 1,222 and Polson came in at 47th with a score of 1,317.

  Mission’s cross-country Coach Marc Cutler reported individual times of 28:26 for Shaniya Decker.  Tori Peterson finished at 34:11. The boys finished at 18:17 for Tate Weingart and Wyatt Decker in at 24:29, shaving 22 seconds off his last meet and logging a personal best.

No other teams reported individual stats.

Up next for cross-country teams will be the Polson Invitational held at the Polson fairgrounds and will also include Mission Sept. 27. Teams from Arlee, Charlo and Ronan will meet in Frenchtown for the Broncs’ Invite Sept. 27.
