Lady Pirates place in top ten at Capital City Invitational

HELENA – In sunny Helena Thursday, the Pirates and Lady Pirates met cross country teams from all classes around the state to compete at the Capital City 7 of 7 Invite with both boys and girls showing their stuff on the three mile course, placing in the upper ranks against AA schools.

The Lady Pirates placed two runners in the top ten that helped push the overall team score of 96 into 11th place out of 49, posting the second best score among the single A teams. Anna Young and Ryan Harrop each grabbed a tenth place finish in their race. There were seven races total spread between the teams. Harrop paced a best time for the Lady Pirates at 20:20 and Young posted a time of 21:49.

Malia Seeley (20:52), Izabella Seemann (21:07) and Quinn Motichka (21:36) rounded out the best Lady Pirate times but just missed top ten in their individual races.

The Pirates fell a bit behind their Lady Pirate teammates but not without personal bests being posted in the Pirate camp. Matt Sitter (18:43), Wyatt Benson (19:13) and Quaid Harlan (19:50) all had season best times at the meet with Harlan faring the best in the race placement finishing 23rd. The Pirates placed 28th overall with a team score of 208, 10th among class A teams.

Best times on the Pirate roster for the boys were Zach Evertz with a three mile time of 17:37, Thunder Morales finishing with a time of 18:20, Sitter in at 18:43 and Warren Wood logging an 18:52.

Next up for the Pirates and Lady Pirates will be a trip to the West Glacier Golf Course in Columbia Falls Oct. 18 where they will compete at the Northwest A Championship Meet. The top 10 individual runners will receive All-Conference honors.
