Judge Deborah Kim Christopher dealt with the following cases Thursday, Oct. 23:

Quintin Roland, 49, Polson, pleaded not guilty to assault with a weapon, a felony; and assault on a minor, a felony.

Omnibus Dec. 4, Jury Trial Jan. 26, 2015.

According to court documents, charges stem from an Oct. 7 incident where Roland allegedly struck a 15-year-old boy on the back of the head with a 2x4 board and initiated a fist fight. The minor was later treated at a hospital for a head injury. A 12-year-old boy witnessed the assault and videotaped part of it with his phone. Court documents state that the video shows Roland delivering several vicious punches to the head of the 15-year-old, and the documents describe Roland as “the much larger defendant.” Court documents also include interviews with a woman who said that Roland often struck both minors. In one incident, the 12-year-old suffered a black eye, missed three days of school, and was told by Roland to say that he had injured his eye on a bathroom door if asked.

Carla Goodwin, 32, Absarokee, admitted violating conditions of probation and parole and her suspended sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs was revoked.

Goodwin was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for five years with two suspended.

According to court documents, charges stem from a Dec. 30, 2012 incident where a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Goodwin was pulled over for swerving into oncoming traffic and nearly causing a head-on collision. A ski was randomly lodged under the vehicle. Drug paraphernalia with white residue was found in the vehicle. After she was arrested, her blood test revealed the presence of tetrahydracannabinol (the psycho active drug in marijuana) and methemphetamine.
