Judge James A. Manley dealt with the following cases Wednesday, Dec. 10:

Alta Finley, 49, Ronan, pleaded not guilty to criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. An omnibus hearing is set for Jan. 21, 2015 and a jury trial for March 16, 2015.

According to court documents, on July 13 a Tribal Police officer stopped Finley on Reservoir Road for an equipment violation. Finley appeared to be under the influence of drugs and the officer saw items of drug packaging on the floorboard of the vehicle. Finley had several warrants issued through tribal court, so she was arrested and her vehicle was impounded. After obtaining a search warrant, an officer found three plastic baggies and a paper bindle that all contained methamphetamine, plus several syringes and a metal spoon.

Karen Valerie Tromp, 61, Arlee, in a change of plea admitted to criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. The court found her guilty. Sentencing is set for Jan. 14, 2015.

According to court documents, on July 5 Tromp consented to a search of her purse at the Arlee Powwow grounds. A Tribal Police officer found a small baggie of methamphetamine and a small glass pipe with methamphetamine residue inside.

Nicole Ramae Dupuis, 26, Ronan, in a change of plea admitted to criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. The court found Dupuis guilty, and sentenced her to six months in Lake County Jail with all suspended. She was also ordered to pay a fine of $500 with $250 suspended.

Judge Deborah Kim Christopher dealt with the following cases Thursday, Dec. 11:

Chantel Cooper, 17, Galen, per a plea agreement admitted to criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. The court found her guilty, and sentencing is set for Jan. 15, 2015.

According to court documents, charges stem from a September 2013 incident where the vehicle in which Cooper was a passenger was pulled over in Ronan. Cooper was found to have a bag of methamphetamine in her bra and she told a Ronan police officer that she was going to sell the drugs for $80.

Richard Dean McBroom, 54, Polson, in a change of plea admitted committing criminal endangerment, a felony. The court found McBroom guilty and set sentencing for Jan. 15, 2015.

According to court documents, McBroom was pulled over while riding his motorcycle. McBroom told the officer he had consumed three or four Coors Light beers in the last 30 minutes. He provided a breath sample that registered .244. McBroom’s driving record showed four prior DUI convictions.

Bambi Ann Waugh, 35, Polson, in a change of plea admitted to criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. The court reserved its finding and judgment until a different charge against her is finalized, but set sentencing for Jan. 15, 2015.

According to court documents, a Tribal police officer executed a search warrant on Waugh’s residence in October 2013 and found methamphetamine and items commonly used to ingest drugs.

Kateri Tekakawitha Huitt, 34, Polson, appeared for a status conference. Both parties agreed to release her on her own recognizance and made changes to the order signed Sept. 11.

According to court documents, charges stem from a Sept. 3 incident where Huitt allegedly threw three knives at another female during a verbal argument over the purchase of a washing machine that was too small. Court documents also state that Huitt allegedly knocked the victim out of a chair and then threw knives at the victim as the victim stood outside. Officers noticed broken glass in the entryway of the home and it appeared there had been a physical disturbance.

Huitt had left the scene by the time officers arrived, and a search warrant was issued for her arrest. Huitt was arrested Nov. 16.
