Editor,

The tribal membership needs to wake up and pay attention to changes the council has put into motion for 2015. Our tribes are here because the tribal membership has always supported what was “in the best interest” of all the members. Now half the people don’t want to be involved, either their job or another’s will be jeopardized. So what? There are laws of protection.

I had another letter explaining what happens to members of “we, the membership” for opposing the Kerr Dam buy back, and action to support giving the Salazar back to the member. (These are still ongoing waiting on information.)

I do not care if our tribe is unique in being the only tribes owning a dam. This Kerr Dam recapture began in 1985, with the current lease. If the council has to “take” from what belongs to the membership we’re already headed in the wrong direction. I have not seen one word of how the membership is going to benefit from this, but I read at the beginning of how the membership would need to sacrifice their per capita for a few years. Unless there is monetary and employment gains, from day one, we do not need this.
