NOXON – The Eagles are trucking right along, jumping into conference play with a split yet with strong performances from a young Eagles bench.

At Noxon on Friday the Eagles played a nail biter against Noxon’s Red Devils. After going into the fourth quarter locked in a tie, the Eagles pulled out a bag of tricks and outscored the Devils by five, claiming the 14-C 48-43 win.

Sophomore Chino Lira led his Eagles with 19 points while teammate Nolan Antiste helped out adding 14.

Saturday the Eagles hosted Hot Springs — last year’s silver medalists in Districts — and fell to the Savage Heat, 48-60. Despite the loss the Eagles came alive after a non-scoring first quarter to come back and outscore Hot Springs two out of the remaining three quarters.

Eugene Parker netted 19 for the Eagles and Lira chipped in 12.

The Eagles will host Victor Jan. 3 after the break.
