HAMILTON – Both the Pirates and Lady Pirates fought a split Friday while competing in a duals event at Hamilton against both the Broncs and Corvallis.

Against Hamilton, the Lady Pirates pulled out the broom to sweep the Lady Broncs 5-0. Doubles team Taylor Rost/Shawna Lenz logged the best numbers for the Lady Pirates after crushing their opponents 6-1, 6-0. Marlee Congdon won her match 6-2, 6-0.

While challenging Corvallis on the court, the Lady Pirates fell 2-5. Polson’s pair of wins came on the doubles court with team Rost/Lenz winning 6-2, 6-2 and team Olivia Hewston/Cassie Carlyle working out a 7-5, 6-0 victory.

The Pirates pulled out a 4-3 win against Hamilton — but not with the ease the girls enjoyed — by taking three of the four wins into extra sets. Pirate Quaid Harlan was the only singles match winner blowing out his Bronc opponent 6-1, 6-1.

Against Corvallis the Pirates picked up only two wins to the Blue Devils five. The two W’s came off the courts of Colin Kenney who easily took out his opponent 6-4, 6-2 and Carson McDaniel who won in extra games 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.

The Pirates and Lady Pirates will host Columbia Falls and Stevensville Saturday.
