Polson girls clinch Northwestern A title

Polson’s Lady Pirates won the Northwestern A Divisional tennis title Friday with a strong 17-point lead over runner-up Whitefish, while the Pirates battled through close competition to a third-place finish, with just one point separating the top three boys’ teams.
For the girls, Marlee Congdon made it to the singles title match, where she fell to Columbia Falls’ Emily Getts, 6-3, 6-3.
The Pirate duo of Colin Kenney and Quaid Harlan edged teammates Cadis Chowning and Tommy Mercer for the doubles title, 7-5, 7-6 (10).
The Class A State Tournament will be held Thursday and Friday in Missoula.
